Too many teams' idea of running clock these days consists of a point guard dribbling the ball around beyond the top of the key until the clock gets down to about 7 seconds, then either trying to dribble in past the entire opposing team or trying to fire off a desperation pass for some kind of three-pointer with the clock running out. As NU found out in the Purdue game, it usually doesn't work. Unless you're up about 10 points in the final minute, you can never stop running your offense in the era of the three-point shot. If you see any player standing in one spot on the court for more than a few seconds, his team is not running a coherent offense. The easiest player to guard is one who doesn't move.
