Size of class is a major confounding thing with transfer classes. How do you compare our class, which brought in three solid, but not blue chip, guys, who nearly perfectly fit specific needs within our roster vs, say, Minnesota, who had zero returning team to work with and brought in an entire new roster of eight guys? Yeah, they brought in more total value in the portal, but only because they had to go get an entire team and so just imported their new coach's G5 team?
It's even more difficult than ranking big football classes. NU didn't need or want a big ole class like Minnesota, Indiana, or Nebraska or somebody who had a lousy team with no returning pieces and needed to bring in everybody they could where size pushes them up the rankings.
The counter to this would be what they're calling "blue chips," but that's super subjective and seems quite broad. Illinois bringing in an early 20s european star or Michigan bringing in the #1 player available in the portal get credit for a "blue chip..." but so does Minnesota whose best prospect was ranked #93?
Anyway, NU not hitting on one of their top couple bigs combined with my concerns over Reid's size make wondering if this is a slam dunk class totally reasonable, but ranking these classes under the same system as high school classes is nearly impossible.
