No, they get points for advancement but lose any opportunity for bonus points. However, as explained in previous posts, it seldom if ever makes a difference with the one exception being when Michigan beat Penn State by 1.5 points...Are they still doing this "zero points for being seeded 1 or 2" while giving everyone else who is seeded 3 and 4 free points? It's still absurd In my opinion.
ADVANCEMENT Points: The #1 and #2 seeds will get a bye in the first round, with no ADVANCEMENT Points. If they win their second round bout, they get an extra ADVANCEMENT Point, so 2 total at that point. The number 3 and 4 seeds, in fact all other seeds, get one ADVANCEMENT Point for each bout won in the championship bracket. Are they still doing this "zero points for being seeded 1 or 2" while giving everyone else who is seeded 3 and 4 free points? One caveat. They only get the advancement point for the bye if they win their next match. If a #1 loses in round 2 they do not get the advancement on the championship side, but if they win they get 2 points for advancing to the semi. No, they get points for advancement but lose any opportunity for bonus points.
