It’ll be a miracle if we end up in the tournament considering how bad we have looked so far. Like there’s a very real possibility we have a losing record this year if things get worse. We also need to stop thinking the three guys out are going to come back. I’ll believe it when I see it so I assume none of them play another game.

But I can’t understand, in either of these scenarios, why boosters would even want Pope back after the amount of money they spent. You don’t get away with that kind of disaster with $20 million dollar attached to it. If Mitch tries to worm Pope back with a losing season back for another year, expect a booster mutiny.

I knew it! Lol

I posted recently that someone would find some kind of way to blame Stoops for how bad basketball is or will be. Lmao. "WE.ARE.UK!"
You’re missing the forest for the trees. The entire university is a crap show from top to bottom.

It’s amazing to me that Mitch Barnhart is still allowed to have his office. Unbelievable. It’s even harder to think he had the support of about 30% or so until recently. Just don’t get it the guy has been absolutely trash his entire tenure here. Gotta consider he was given UK of the 90’s and this is where we are. He was given the program at the top and wanted to retain Tubby when he even knew it was over, hired Gillispie (and this was by himself no committee), the Calipari contracts and didn’t want to hire him anyway, stoops contract, Joker, football scandals, smaller program scandals, and now our basketball program just just have fully recovered from his tenure. He must really do the bidding of certain people is all I can say. There isn’t another major blue blood or football program who would have retained him. Im at a loss with it, 23 years is too long for one guy. And this is Barnhart we’re talking about. Insanity doesn’t begin to describe it.

were an SEC school and he’s proven over and over he’s not about winning big. He’s about a low expectations, settle, and collect money. I guess that’s why he’s lasted, must think he’s good for status quos and keeping the money rolling. It’s not about winning.
Don’t forget also that DOGE identified millions of USAID dollars that went to UK

You haven’t been around Kentucky basketball very long. Not only does pope have to go you have to bring in the right guys to coax a nate Oates to come. Good ads fire coaches as soon as it’s obvious it’s not going to work out not. They don’t keep them around an extra year. Pope is easy to deal with because he has a reasonable contract. We are in a phase where we have to get basketball right in the next 2 years or it may be lost. Too many seasons of unbelievable failures. Gonna lose a lot of fans especially genz who want to pull for winners
I have been around Kentucky basketball for a long time actually. It hasn't been established that Pope isn't a good coach or is in over his head. That isn't going to be determined 8 games into the second season coming off what was considered a successful first one. Personally I think its an absurd position to even consider letting Pope go at this point based on 3 losses to teams. Had it been Purdue, UConn and Houston that UK lost to instead of UL/Mich St and UNC, UK fans would be upset but they wouldn't be taking this personally. At the end of the day, most fans are just pissed at UL fans on social media dragging them.

I'm not saying Pope is going to be successful I'm just saying its so off the charts to declare his coaching a failure 8 games into the second season that its the kind of banter that makes other fans laugh at us. No coach is going to come in here following Pope in that situation without a guaranteed contract that holds the University hostage because the AD listens to fans that are pissed about UK losing to a rival. While I've been vocal about how bad of an AD Barnhart is, a move like that would be horrible for UK at this point.

Another point is that if we had Lowe playing we could have easily won one of those games, and possibly 2 or all of them. Without a player injury Pope might be heralded as the next great coach but with it, he's in over his head. Is Lowe a difference maker to that degree? We'll never know. What I do know is you don't fire a coach 8 games into the season with a 5-3 record. And in no time in Kentucky's history has that ever happened, long time UK fans
