I know it seems unorthodox now in football, especially college, but would it be wise to play Boom and Benny at the same time? I know you have to give up a receiver, but would the contrast in their running styles be tough to defend? Just a thought and I know you wouldn't do it all the time ......

Benny has a fullback's mentality and would probably put his chin through a brick wall, but I am not sure both would be a good idea. If Boom caught the ball better, I think the tandom would make more sense.

Thanks for the reply and I see your point. I just really wonder if the outside speed and inside power would make for a really tough defend.

I just think this offense needs blockers for the run game. I guess if you took a WR to the sideline ....

I don't think it would be terrible to run an occasional triple option type threat with those guys. Johnson chooses to either hand it off to Snell up the middle or he tucks it and runs the option with Boom to the outside. I could see some pretty deadly plays with that but it's not an easy play to run. Requires timing and proper reads. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing us run it 1 or 2 times a game.

You could also just run the wildcat with Snell and Boom, but that takes away a passing threat.

Not a fan of installing the option in game five unless the team has practiced the option since spring. Especially against Bama.

Generally, I never consider there to be a legitimate pass threat when teams run The Wildcat.

I agree with you. I think the best bet to install it would be if you did so in the bye week. That's the Miss State game and it might not hurt. The good thing about it is that the team already runs a bit of read option, so the first part of the play is already in the books. However, the actual option with Johnson and Boom would need to be worked on. If it doesn't come along quickly then I'd scrap it and move on to other things.

Yeah think it would be good idea and could get creative out of that set if you wanted to. I wonder if Gran has thought about it since he seeing the 1,2 punch those 2 can bring.

Don't need second RB for run game. That's what blocking TE is for. Conrad lined up in backfield as much as on the line.
