I, for one, am absolutely thrilled that after six (6) LONG years the Cats will finally achieve bowl eligibility again this Saturday. Joker's last year was one of the most miserable in our history (and that is saying something) with only two wins over Kent State and Samford and getting blown out (and shut out) against Vanderbilt at home, quitting in the 3rd quarter against Missouri because of a rain storm, losing to WKU at home and getting creamed by UL, Fla, S. Carolina, Arkansas and UT.

It has been a long road back to "above average" but I feel like we are there. If I told any one of you after the first game of the season that we would 1) lose our 4-star QB for the season; 2) lose K. Walker and D. Laster for the season; 3) lose Jason Hatcher, Darius West and Reggie Meant before the season; 4) Matt Elam would show no improvement; 5) win 4 SEC games; 6) beat SC for the 3rd time in a row; 7) win at Missouri; 8) beat Miss. St. after a game winning drive as time expired; 9) lose to UGA on a last second FG; 10) put up over 400 yards of rushing against UT in Neyland.......be honest, would any one of you have believed me?

Now, having stated the above we are all hoping for a great end to the season and a bowl win; some believe we have a chance against UL - not sure I am willing to go there. As for this Saturday I am looking forward to a chance to see some of the young Cats that are going to be counted on to take us to the "next level." I have a feeling that many of our starters/stars will be held out or play sparingly - so my question is, who are you most excited to see get some playing time? For me it is the following in no particular order:

1) Kash Daniel - Need better MLB play; Kash has shown he can get it done on ST, need him to read plays faster and fill.

2) Jordan Bonner - We need someone to help pressure the QB, is this the guy?

3) Sihiem King - Lifetime average of close to 10 YPC? Does he replace Boom next season?

4) Charles Walker - Needs more passes thrown his way, all he does is catch it.

5) Tymere Dubose - Need the big fella to step up and give us a presence on the DL.

6) Logan Stenberg - Shown a real nasty streak in limited minutes so far.

7) Jabari Greenwood - High upside WR.

8) Tavin Richardson - best hands on the team.

9) Kengera Daniel - Looked awesome on that 4th down stop against Vandy, has all the tools to be great.

10) Kei Beckham - DB with the credentials.

11) Blake Bone - Could his big catch against UT be the beginning of something for the Sr. to be?

12) T.J. Carter - Surprise of fall camp (from the freshman class) has played and held his own, will need him to step it up big-time if the front 7 is to improve.

13) Nico Firios - Came in with high expectations, just now getting back from bad injury last season has looked good on ST, can he help in the regular LB rotation?

14) Jordan Griffin - Burned his RS, let's see more of that this supremely talented 4-star kid out of Georgia (how did we get him again?) can do.

15) Jacob Hyde - reputed to be the strongest player on the team. At 6'2, 320 lbs. can he improve enough so as to give us some help (8-12 snaps per game) in the middle next season?

16) Kayaune Ross - disappeared after some early season success, time for the self-styled internet star to show what he's got.

14) Luke Wright - can the kid throw is accurately so as to give the Cats a different look against UL (and in the bowl) should SJJ struggle throwing it?

Thoughts?

I thought they quit the game because they were hungry

Excellent points, I believe our backups should get some meaningful snaps Saturday. Look forward to getting bowl eligible and the younger guys getting some PT !

I would literally start the 2nd level of the depth chart, but for the fact it is Senior Day. It might be fun to let seniors play as much as possible and prudent, and otherwise play reserves, except at QB. You can sub starters where you see reserves struggling or needing a blow, perhaps even play some 3's. Doubt we take this tack, though, since bowl season is riding on outcome.

I agree with your take except for King taking Boom's place. I think Boom will be back, if not 1 Benny Snell has the starting job locked up. I asked about King earlier in the season on here, was told he is too little for SEC play. Eh, guess not

The last time CMS discussed playing back-ups in an upcoming game, he almost lost the game. Remember EKU? Play the starters until the game is safely in hand. Then consider playing backups.

and we all remember how that one worked out. Ugly!!!

EKU put up 67 on this team. They are 0-10 and average giving up over 40 a game. I think they can plan on playing some backups.

If UK doesn't throw a pass they can still put up 40 or better.

First, we need to understand Peay is really, really bad. Maybe the worst team to come into CWS in decades. What I hope happens is UK builds a big first half lead and then turns things over to backups. Maybe give Kemp most of the 2d half carries since he's a senior. Hope we can see a DL of Dubose, Taylor, Kengera and Carter plus a steady diet of Kash, Firios and Brown at LB. But a word of warning...UK does has a history of screwing up these types of games.
