Bad Takes You Have Had

Thought it would be interesting for fans to post the worst take they have had regarding UK basketball.

And I am talking about a take that you thought for sure was right, and you were embarrassingly wrong. Never hurts to have a little self deprecating humor.
My thread about supporting Cal after 2019 is my worst. @Jamal Mercer wouldn’t let me forget it.

That slim Arvydas Sabonis was going to make people forget about Kareem.

He was a great player, too bad his best years weren’t in the league but even out of shape and hurt he was still pretty good.

I stuck with Tubby to the bitter end. It was the two-man class of Jared Carter and Adam Williams that finally broke my back.
I get it, I mean Tubby’s like Slim Jim’s - you love ‘em or you hate ‘em. That was a zero as a recruiting class, but directly followed the ‘04-‘05 recruiting class that was #1 in the nation (Rondo, Bradley, Morris and Crawford).

I thought our previous head coach would win multiple titles. I was a defender for many years.
I will admit that I thought that with the right recruiting class he'd have players he could just roll the ball out too, and they'd make playground pussies out of the other teams come tournament time. The moment he started his "come watch him (Shaedon) in warmups", I knew 100% that his recruiting classes were not about winning anything.

I used to believe when Cal started at UK that he was a good coach. Turns out he is a shell of a coach and his assistants got him this far in life.

I thought BCG would be better than he was. I knew it was a new low when he had Stevenson block a free throw and he had deer in the headlights look a lot of the time.

I have a few.
After one exhibition game, I thought Shagari could become a great player. I didn’t think it would happen his freshman year, but as a sophomore or junior, he would be dominant.

That may be only one, but it’s bad enough to equal a few.

I always thought Cal was a good in game coach. Evansville, Oakland, St Peters and many other teams let me know that I was so wrong.

I believed that how we played last year “without our three 7 footers” early in the season that once we got them in, nobody could beat us.

That UK was “screwing“ BCG when they were firing him. I talked to someone else who was a big UK fan and we both agreed. It really depressed me for a couple of days until stuff started coming out.

I thought Khalil Whitney was going to be great. Didn’t even last half a year here.

Cal was great at recruiting but he for whatever reason just could not land the elite wings/small forwards outside of Michael Kidd Gilchrist. I thought Whitney would change that lol.
