I think the risk is real that CBM is a team wrecker chemistry wise. He's talented but I'll trust Pope on this and he just doesn't seem to fit with this team or with Pope, imo. Give me Sarr! There'll be more really high end players enter the portal in the coming days, too.

He lost his team their entire season two years ago when he got ejected against Yale in the first round of the NCAA’s for an egregious cheap shot and they lost as a #4 seed. Risk is about calculating and managing it and this guy can’t control himself or his urges regardless how important a moment it is.

From a quick google search, he had 2 technical fouls all year. Brandon Garrison had 3, including pretending to shoot a guy in the head after a made 3, so I guess we should get rid of him as well then?

He was the best player on Auburn in the Final Four game this year, best perimeter defender by far, made big shots and winning plays, etc.

Not wanting to take a guy because of a bad foul that happened 2 seasons ago makes no sense.

I've always said you hate the guy unless he is on your team. Good defender, can knock down a 3, very high energy. I would take him if Pope thinks he fits.

We will really love to have him if Oweh surprises us all.

What about when he did the same thing against Alabama just last month?

Nothing wrong with playing with a chip or an edge, but this guy has gone across it too many times for my taste. You don’t need all choir boys, but this guy shouldn’t be a consideration for UK imo.

Well he sure as hell wasn't a "team wrecker" in the Final 4 v/s Florida, nor the rest of the year. He was the 2nd leading scorer on the #1 overall seed that had 19 quad 1 wins. IF that is considered a team wrecker, sign me TF up for about 8 of them. He wrecked our *** for 22 when they came into Rupp and beat the brakes off of UK. Wrecked our team last year (23/24) also, had 14/6/3 with 1 steal and 1 block. Was 1/2 from 2FG, 1/1 from 3FG and 9/9 from the free throw line. Straight wrecked us but getting to the line 9 times because we didn't have ANYONE who could stop him. Yeah, I will take all those team wreckers I can get. Final 4 experience, check. Play at an elite level in the Final 4, check.

I've heard this for 3 straight years now. It's right up there with Greenberg saying in late Jan/early Feb "This is Cal's best coaching job".

Graham Ike can't go right and he's played CBB for 5/6 yrs. Remember after the opener when they pounded Scott Drew and his 6'6 and under team the question was "Is this the best Zags team of all time?". That was quickly put to rest and they lost every high profile game they had until the Annual Conference Championship game vs St. Mary's.

Few is on fumes---that program not having a legit Conference is killing them and his best chance was the Covid/Suggs team IMO.

If you are correct, I'll be more than happy to give you full credit and admit I was wrong. Just feels like a stale/missed their chance window under Few right now.
Gonzaga started going bad when everyone found out Few was a drunk

It's time others started hating UK again. We have had to be patient through the previous coaches softness. I don't think CBM will come to Kentucky but if you want to talk missing piece, he is the missing piece of all missing pieces.

Edit: BTW, I get a suspicion that he could wind up back in Pearls sweaty clutches.

He hit 59 3s last year, which would have been third on the team, by a WIDE margin.

Ike has no eligibility left, he is not coming back to Gonzaga, Huff is, Ike isn't.

The freshman Pettiford cost Auburn the game. Poor kid, I was screaming for Pearl to get him out, had 3 turnovers in about a 5 minute span (could have a couple others), missed several shots, took very bad shots, got absolutely washed like a dirty dish on defense. Baker-Mazara had 18 points (4/7 3s) and 4 steals, he was hardly the reason they lost.

Not the point of this thread, but:

Ike, who began his college basketball career in 2020-21 at Wyoming, still has an additional year of eligibility should he choose to return to Spokane.

Might want to check on his flagrant fouls....

You can have him! We're not Auburn. It was clear to everyone that he's trouble. Think he was involved in that Auburn plane having to turn around? Just a simple yes or no is all that's needed.

Mark Pope is interested and he is the coach. It’s unlikely CBM ends up here but if he does, I think we should trust Pope with that decision.

The guy has a few warts but you can't deny his ability. He's the guy you love to hate on the opposing team but love to have on your team. Him and Garrison would give us a couple of guys who are streetfighters and those attributes can help you win big.

I trust Pope so if he wants him I say go get him. I would personally be willing to pay him more than Wilkerson since he has a good resume. Just my two cents.

He's a talent but I'm surprised Pope is really interested in him. Where did that info come from? I'll support our team with him or without but I've seen too much from him to want him near our team and he doesn't seem to fit the mold of Pope players. Maybe he was the one trying to break up Auburn players fighting on the plane that had to turn around and just wanted them to have a group hug. Just a day or so ago, people were wishing BG would leave because of his temperment. Now we have being swinging from CBM's sack since he entered the portal. He strikes me as a player that even Cal would pass on.

This kid has ice water in his veins. I've watched him make big time shot after big time shot the last two years. If Pope and staff thinks he's worth it I'm all in.
Worth what? What is the "it" in your comment? Lol! Yes, I trust Pope but give me Sarr, as of now. Seems like the portal is heating up again for the late run, though.

Exactly!

The talent is there but dude rubs me as a chemistry concern.

If Pope feels he can harness his crazy streak then wonderful but don't nuke the locker room because our eyes got too big or we are feeling hungry to fill out the roster.

Those are legit concerns for sure. The wrong person can be a cancer and detrimental. I trust our coach to do his due diligence on if he fits or not. The great coaches have a knack for taking difficult players and getting them to buy into their system. He's a really good player though that is battle tested.

Pope likes fiery guys. I knew from the moment I heard he was entering the portal that Pope would want to kick the tires here. I think the way we view these guys is not always the same lens he uses. CBM is the kind of guy who is a psycho for basketball and Pope loves energy.

There are multiple reasons it isn’t likely to happen, but I suggest to go listen to Pope talk about the kid pre-Auburn. He clearly loves him some CBM. The things we hate about him, myself included, are why he is a monster of an addition onto a team.

Be kind of funny seeing the backtracking on this board if Pope reeled him in.
He would obviously be a top notch add talent wise for sure. The issues are the issues though and they could become worrisome but he would def help win some games. I’d say if we were interested or wanted to sign him make a deal where he doesn’t get paid if he acts like a fool.
