Watched the Browns yesterday and Baker wasn't as sharp but he did pull it off. Been rooting for a playoff berth for them but yesterday they didn't get any help. Steelers, Ravens, Colts and Tennessee all won. Even now if the Browns win out which is a distinct possibility, the odds of making the playoffs were drastically reduced. Don't see them making it now. It would have been interesting to see the Browns in the playoff as they have turned the season around after the firing of Hue Jackson. Watch out next year. SIDE NOTE: I had been a Steelers fan for the last few seasons but when they released Landry Jones I dumped them. Dobbs is terrible in my opinion.

Baker and other rooks this year have given the fan base something they haven’t had in many years : Hope.

Record be damned, they’re leaving this season happy and looking forward to next season. Same feeling around the Huskirt fandom here in Nebraska. They were 4-8 last year and the world was ending. Fire Mike Riley, hire Scott Frost, go 4-8 again, but this time all the fans are happy and optimistic.

Hope is a powerful drug.

That's too bad; I would have sworn the announcers of the Steelers game mentioned they were still in it at the end of that broadcast but maybe just imagined or had the hope of Christmas going for Baker's sake...

When Baltimore won that officially eliminated the Browns as Baltimore now leads their division over the Pittsburgh Steelers who lost yesterday. I foresee Tomlin being fired and Roethesberger retiring. Leaving Pittsburgh with Dobbs and Mason Rudolph as QBs. Steelers won't make the playoffs for the first time in years this year and probably next year.

When the Steelers reached 8 wins through week 15 the Browns playoff chances dropped to nearly nil. Their first and best chance for the playoffs (by far) was winning the division. Even now, if the Browns win this week and the Steelers lose, the Browns finish 3rd in the North, but with the same record as the Steelers, and only a half game behind the Ravens. With wins by the Steelers and Browns, Pittsburgh wins the North.

To realize just HOW possible the Browns' division title chances were, just ponder this:

If the Steelers had lost at the Chargers and the Ravens at the Saints, then a Browns win this week would have given them the division title if the Steelers didn't win. How many thought that BOTH Pittsburgh and Baltimore would both win on the road against 11-win teams? Definitely not me.

I'm not one to wear jerseys, more of a hat swag guy. But I speak so much of Baker (I even went to the Brown/Texan game here in Houston & he had his worst game this year) that the daughter gifted me a Bowns-Baker jersey for Christmas this week. It's been fun to watch him this year change the face of a NFL team. I wish him continued success.

I too have followed him closely in The Mistake By The Lake (Cleveland). What he's done there is magical, and I can't wait until he starts really dominating really good teams. That day is coming, and soon.

Baker currently has the 3rd longest streak of starts with at least one touchdown pass in NFL history. If he has two TD passes against the Ravens, he matches two others for the most touchdown passes by a rookie. Three TD's, and the record is his alone.

That's just the surface of the orange. I think his accomplishments this year are already pretty legendary.
