Hope to see a lot of this, this coming season

Francis got his puppies set and then put it on the deck and walked in for a kiss off the glass.
Lino is an assist machine in training (no assist here statistically but an “assist” and a plus 2 nonetheless).

I think the 2-man game with Gurdak is going to be crucial for us this year. I don’t think we’ve ever had a big man that could shoot a mid-range AND finish at the rim. I haven’t seen that much pick and roll and pick and pop in a game in the Villanova exhibition, since lobs to Cliff and after so many times teams catch on to that. Let’s hope for the best!!!

Not loving how Sydnor is moving in that clip. Hopefully a bit more bounce in his step when hes 100%

Davis, Francis, Smith, and Jones all shot above 35% from three last year. It’s not that Rutgers doesn’t have anyone who can make them, they’re just not a priority on this team

Well not against St Johns anyway. Against a team that loves to run, it’s probably not the best game plan for us to launch a ton of them. The more long misses we have - the more chances for St Johns to score or draw a foul at the rim in transition the other way. Made baskets allow them to set up the press.

Again - I’m not sure how anyone can argue that not taking more 3s is our problem when we built it a 20 point lead while only attempting 4 of them in half one. Arguably we took too many the rest of the way. They weren’t falling for us and when we missed badly - St Johns hurt us off them.

I agree with the first part, but I'm not sure about the second part.

We got a LOT of open looks from deep after halftime, but they just weren't falling. Smith, Jones, Powers, and Francis all missed wide open threes, and you just HAVE to take them when they're open. I suspect, though, that they missed the open ones because they were being harassed by SJU's athletic and long wings all game, and that really impacts the shooters' psyche even when taking open ones.

Agree video looks good but it’s practice
If we do that in games vs high majors I’ll be extremely pleased

I don’t mind missing shots if we move the ball well. I can’t stand 1-1 hero play.

It’s a couple reasons. I think when your frazzled by press break it impacts other aspects of the offense. So there’s that. The guys on the TKR pod said Tariq was playing injured and wrist and ankle not 100%. Clearly he doesn’t normally miss free throws so maybe that wrist needs a couple more weeks to be 100%. He gutted out a lot of minutes there for coming off an injury.

His wrist was probably sore from jacking up 26 shots

Yeah but at least it satisfied those wanting RU to take more threes. Lol.

Just make buckets and stop other team from making them.

It’s that simple.

The second half for sure wasn’t the time for Tariq to be launching them. The TKR guys said he was holding his wrist at halftime grimacing in pain. Wrist injuries can linger / creep back with overuse. He’s normally automatic from the FT line so it was obviously bothering him.

My guess is we will attempt more 3s against teams that are not as big a threat to run and finish in transition and don’t press as much. We need to execute better in the press break. Brandin said as much in the presser. But that doesn’t mean those missed lay ups at the rim should be transition 3s instead. Transition 3s taken before the offense is set against a team like SJU are basically just handing a team like the Red Storm an easy two off a miss.
