Let JQ take the floor and see where this team goes from there. His defensive presence in the post is next-level. Until then, we do not know how well Kentucky actually is yet.
How do you know it’s next level? No one has seen him play yet. You might be really disappointed when he comes back.

Laugh the pain away of UK having Mark Pope over a top-tier coach hahaha so funny

Some of you low IQ individuals expect Prime Phil Jackson as coach with Curry at point, MJ at the 2, LeBron at the 3, Bird at the 4 and Shaq at the 5 and if we don’t, we need to fire the coach because he can’t recruit. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You group of miserables make me giggle. 🤭

He played for Arizona State last year dumb *** and was a force in the paint. Just because you didn't watch and are misinformed, looking for any reason to be a skeptic doesn't validate your stance.

And Calipari covered for way more than this. He had abusive players, he had players soliciting prostitution, he had players down town Memphis inciting riots and fighting people. Arrest. The works.

How this works with these guys, is if you coach Kentucky, they’ll back anything. But not until then. Hypocrite doesn’t begin to describe it.
Dude's been doing this for almost 4 years.
I’m not calling names, but I see it from people all the time and it’s primarily people thinking they are smart for hating Cal and if you don’t hate Cal, you’re a coach-first fan or don't understand basketball...... Gibberish. Glad we didn’t let the Einstein’s here buyout Cal for Hall n’ Oats, lol. Have a good one.

Yeah but some here want to see a three launched every single possession for their viewing pleasure, so they have a crush on Oatz.

8 for 34 from Downtown, lol. Where are all the idiotic "The game has passed Cal by" posts ? "Spread it and shoot 40 threes a game!!"

Auburn 3 for 18 three pointers as I speak....

Calling a flag here: You’re referring to the people who don’t share your view as disingenuous and/or trolls….yet, I’ve kindly pointed out that it would benefit both sides to try to better understand the rationale of the other and you made very clear you have no interest in doing so. How can you, with a straight face, make reference to ingenuity if you aren’t at least willing to have a two-way conversation? That’s whack as hell. By the way, hearing someone else out doesn’t mean you have to agree with them whatsoever. The good guy/bad guy foolishness is unnecessary. There is one Big Blue Nation and reasonable minds can come to different conclusions.

This board has a group of about 5, and this has gone on for years, that are absolutely hypocrites without debate. They rode Calipari to extremes, then when someone’s were right on the money suddenly switched and pretended it never happened. Now they’re doing it again, and while calling out other coaches for things Calipari did many times. It’s not a debate that they are hypocritical to the extreme. If you could read some of it that went on you’d agree. This isn’t a situation where people can differ this is outright illogical nonsense and hypocrisy. I’m fine with some one making logical conversation and differing views. But this is a vast minority here of about 5 that does this over and over and no, they need to be called on it.

You Oats fan boys are blithering idiots and look like fools. Alabama fans are laughing at your dumb asses.
Not an Oats fanboy. But he is better than Mark and has been wildly more successful to this point. You’re missing the point. Someone thinking Oats would kill it here is called affirming evidence and common sense.

Are you a fan of his is a totally different conversation. But if you want to make the Pope is better, let’s hear it?

I think it’s past time we are concerned with recruiting. But I still don’t know how much of that is Mark’s fault, and how much is the contracts / Mitch’s fault. But Mark has looked like a very poor coach, I think being objective matters here.

Ok. I’ll just say I still don’t want to fire Pope and I have logical reasons for that. My mind can be changed on that if he doesn’t perform. I’d just like it to be clear that there is more than just two “camps”.

Im not really in one or the other. I think right now, he’s failed. Why that is I don’t fully know, but he’s looked bad as a floor coach too. I haven’t seen one team of his look prepared to the level UK teams should, always playing catchup, always winning by late adjustment and never cohesive. Recruiting hasn’t been good, so right now I’d be fine with a change. There is some gray area there, I really want Mark to work. But I can’t make that happen.

I actually agree with most of what you said there, except recruiting—-I have a different view than most there. Here’s what I’ll say about Monday Nitro or Dubya C Dubya. Even if you don’t agree with that guy, he does help combat some of the obvious trolls on the board. The guy hates my guts and when he creates the next account, he will probably attack me again unprovoked—-but I recognize he is an important part of the message board as well. He wants to protect Pope further than I would, but I believe he is just trying to be a good fan, or as far as he views it. I just hope Pope wins a few more here and we can all get along a little. Most of the fans are devastated and want to go back to being proud of the blue and white —- something we can all hope for.

He has no purpose. He's a coach cheer leader. No different than kybassfan. UK could hire a coffee table as coach. And he'd be posting "and some of you wanted "human sentience" as a coach 🤡".

Man we’ve had a lot of experiences with him spanning many user names. I don’t think there’s a point to it other than to support the coach and attack fans when they see a change is needed. There is nothing a coach could do here, even losing or scandal, that would make him want a change. He’d instead just fight your common fan. But like I said we’ve had such a long history with him we’ve just seen it over and over. The longer you interact I think you’ll see it in time.

You may be right. I always try to remember there’s a human behind every keyboard and even though this is the internet, I always like to be mindful of that even if the other side isn’t. So I’m certainly not defending the guy.

I think Oats is a very good coach and would certainly support his hiring if the position were available. But for those of you who think he would come in a nanosecond are still living in a bygone era. Social media has made the mob mentality commonplace and Bama may be more inviting. He has made it to a final four at a school which can pay him close to what we have and live at a place that doesn’t have near the pressure. That also applies to his family and some very good players as well.

Mentioning Oats getting abused by Arizona is not hating on Oats, it’s a fact. Some of you people act like he is a family member, getting your itty bitty feelings hurt. 😂 And saying either Bama or Arizona would smoke UK isn’t even worth mentioning since we suck at this time.

Its hysterical to me that some on here crush Pope for everything he does, but when Oats team gets their doors blown off, they get their panties in a bunch if you comment on that. How crazy is defending the Bama coach more than the Cats SMH

Even though I’m disappointed in Pope this year, I would agree. Oats is a better overall coach than Pope at this point, but the man love for Oats is hilarious on this board.

That’s not it. It’s the way it’s set up. “Alabama getting beat” as the thread title then here we come defend oats is not how this is going. He’s trying to act as if everyone is wrong and oats is terrible because he’s not going 100-0 at Alabama. It’s disingenuous to say we’re coming to the rescue of Oats. Read back, look at the thread title. We’re simply saying right now Oats has done excellent at Alabama and set himself up for the UK job easily. Mark is not working out right now. So there’s no reason to put oats down at all, he’s done one of the best jobs I’ve ever seen in college basketball. For sure top 15 if not higher. This is Alabama, not Kansas. They don’t even have a good basketball NIL. So why make a thread like this and try to use this as a means to say everyone who would take oats is stupid? That’s ridiculous.

Oats is FAR better than Mark Pope. I don’t like that anymore than anyone else here, but it’s the truth.

I can’t deny it anymore. I’d be a hypocrite if I said he’s too big of a POS. I believe to be great at this level you just about have to be. I’ve known handlers and college coaches, I’ve been involved in a few recruitments years ago. It’s really dirty, so why is Pearl any different than accepting Calipari? Calipari was just better at getting away with things. He’s slicker.

Pearl needs to be called but if that’s going to happen it would need to be in the next 12-15 months in my opinion.

It almost makes me wonder if it’s why Pearl went out. Doesn’t appear he’s running, so why? Maybe so his son can take over, he can retire in good graces and take some time off. Lobby for the job and take a break, do some TV and wait. He probably already knows if Mark will make it like Calipari and Oats both know and knew. If he doesn’t think so, this would be a way to set yourself up for it. Even when he finally won in Rupp he was talking more to UK fans than Auburn lol.

Pearl would probably do well if he came here tomorrow, but Pope is getting at least 3 years and by then Pearl will be too old. The next UK coach will be someome nobody has even mentioned yet.

Just no shirt off nonsense. Imma snob. STL cardinals fan; Kentucky. I’m about keeping the hair cut and looking like business. Just don’t like the prestigious organizations acting like the Boston Red Sox. Some disagree. I just like to keep it that way.
There’s nothing wrong with that view. If we beat a good team and Pearl takes his shirt off, I might take off mine at my house lol. Someone in the thread made a good point though — Pearl’s age is going to be a problem, since Pope will probably get time first to try to land his own plane. And I’ll be honest, I’m still really hoping it works with Pope —- I trust his vision. Just gotta see if he can fix this.

The age is for sure an issue. But technically he could go to close to 70 I guess. Calipari is getting closer to it, and he always said he won’t coach past 60.
