No. I don’t know how you got that. I don’t hold that view. I think stats show that it’s fine to have one but no titles in this era if one is your best player. My opinion on this is well-documented

You can find 1,000 posts of me inviting anyone to a debate as long as it stays on topic and not personal. My encouragement to Kentucky15 was to try to understand the points his interlocutors were making —- anyone who isn’t doing that isn’t really having a debate. That’s just a rock fight. It’s not that difficult to see the vast difference there.

I’m just about ready to fire him myself. I can’t even talk about him anymore. One of my least favorite people in sports history. He makes Pres of STL for the last decade John Mozeliak look competent. Man isn’t here to win. He’s here to maintain status quo be average and suck revenues for the academic establishment and all of their retirements.
We beat more top 15 teams than ever in our history, last year.
We had 3-4 starters already hurt and missed time this year.
Even though I don’t think you’re truly a UK fan, this kind of stuff is why coaches avoid us like the plague.
I think it’s odd how good he did last season, but now he just looks like a poor coach in several ways. but I am reminded that on many of those games we struggled too. The Duke game we were getting beat pretty bad for example. Not sure I remember a single game we just played well and controlled the game, put them away decisively start to finish.Low IQ individuals tend to have short memories, as well as trolls.
I want Mark to win here and was in full support mode. But at some point the program imo has to be protected and we’re in a difficult spot. Each generation needs to see the excellence so it’s always expected. Right now, the middle school aged kids don’t remember seeing UK dominant. That’s a huge problem.
I thought Pope last season was good with the caveat that we all expected that to be his worst season here.
Coaches avoid us because our fans complain when the team sucks? Ok then they can go to vandy or some other place where they don't give a damn about basketball

Yep. That was the baseline. The floor. So far, the floor has moved down a few flights.
That in my opinion is the difference in a good player and great. A great player rarely takes bad shots, and shoots better because of it. Guys like Noah and Chandler are really good shooters, but they both seam to have trouble using screens to there advantage to get those open higher % shots. Threes are already low % , and a forced or bad three, sends it in that 15%, that some one mentioned. Hoping our guards, can get there with that. Aberdeen, Williams, all of them. We take a lot of quick and bad threes, I have seen more air balls, then I have ever seen any team shoot. If we clean that up, and JQ is what I think he will be, there is a good chance this team turns that corner.

The point of this thread was to troll anyone that thinks UK should never lose by 40, while simultaneously thinking Oats is a good coach. When Pope starts winning SEC titles and SEC tournaments, this thread will make much more sense. Ya know, since Oats has done that at Alabama, which is the equivalent of someone taking UK to SEC title games in football. Please stop letting people troll you, when they are clearly not good at it.
Anywhere we played, they are flat out better coached with a way higher talent level. Lloyd learned from Few who just beat us by 40 and they have been destroying teams the same way. Transitive property doesn’t work in basketball but they have been destroying really good teams.
Michigan and Zona are a tier above every other team right now. Maybe Duke or BYU could hang because they each have a guy who can get 35 a night if needed.

We also ended in the S16 and had many games where we were blown out. It was a good first year for a coach, especially considering the time and roster we had when he took over. Everyone admits that but it wasn't some revolutionary year for UK.
I'm not a UK fan but have 30 times more posts than you on the board you're on. Actually looking at your limited posting history you may be related to Pope. Most of it is defending Pope from attacks that aren't really even attacks. Or if not that you are talking down other coaches, Beard, Pearl and Oats.
Also pretty funny that if you criticize Pope you are "crushing him". I guess this team this year should be our new standard.
