Bama OL Alphonse Taylor DUI

from another site..... Alabama offensive guard Alphonse Taylor was arrested Sunday and charged with driving under the influence by the Tuscaloosa Police Department, according to the Tuscaloosa Country Sheriff's Office. Taylor's bond was set at $1,000.

Taylor was a starter at right guard along the Crimson Tide's offensive line, which won the first-ever Joe Moore Award, a last year, but the senior was given an ultimatum by head coach Nick Saban to lose some weight to be a starter again.

In the spring, Taylor was demoted to second-team right guard because of his weight, while Brandon Kennedy took valuable reps with the first-team offensive line. Taylor's weight is listed at 345 pounds -- his same weight from this spring.

Taylor was voted to the 2016 Preseason SEC Media Days All-SEC Team's second-team offense

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor has been arrested on a drunken driving charge, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Taylor remained in the Tuscaloosa County jail early Sunday afternoon on $1,000 bond. A jail official didn't have any details on his arrest. Calls to the Tuscaloosa Police Department were referred to a spokesperson, who did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press.

The 6-foot-5, 345-pound Taylor started all 15 games for the Crimson Tide during the 2015 national championship season. The guard is a preseason second-team All-Southeastern Conference pick by reporters covering the league.

lol well I hope they are all drunk leading up to the game against us. I seriously doubt though that Saban suspends him or any kind of discipline action. If he wasn't any good then he would kick him off the team.

Come on, you are talking about the world leader here, Alabama is just following the money.

Besides, with the MONEY in control, (NCAA AND TV in charge, really), how much is there to lose? When is the last time you have heard anything about the oarhouse at the city college, anyone remember the miracle hurtt wrought there, what happened to the rape victims at Thug U, who knows what involvement Strong had with the Regent's wife, how many MSU fans are going to give up their tickets compared to the ones that will go buy tickets because they will have a better team on the field?

Disgusting that the Thug U AD that said athletes are treated the same as all other students at their athletic powerhouse (I assume they still have a school, but I haven't heard anything about it for years) didn't have to be shown as the bald faced liar he is when the treatment of the eight thugs was brought up in the lawsuit (I suppose all their students get free admission to nightclubs) that should have been charged with attempted murder got away without a parking ticket, and even got a free limousine ride back to campus.

But money talks, pay victims enough and they will be quiet, part of our legal system run by our lawyers. It would be interesting to know how much the lawyers got for that joke.

It doesn't matter who did what at Alabama. The football team could go on a rampage and decapitate every living animal in the Birmingham Zoo and you still wouldn't find an elected official in the state of Alabama willing to call it a crime.

One thing to get a DUI, another to get in an accident, a third if he left the scene. They do add up.

However way too early to rush to judgement, not enough facts yet, and the "indefinite suspension" could end just before the opening game or after a good portion of the season, doesn't mean that much right now, Was there an accident, any injuries, how much over the legal limit, etc etc. I'm not sure you even have to be over the limit if you have an accident.

Two things seem obvious, he is a heck of a football player to be second team All SEC and he must have had more money for booze than I do to get all that 342# drunk..
