Bama took a commitment from an in-state 2017 4-star OT this weekend. They now have four OTs committed. They are loading up at OL - wonder how many they will take? Looks like anyone else they take at OL is playing OG or center.

Link: http://alabama.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Commits

They are still recruiting Wilson and WIlls, both 5* OT, they will take both if they can get both and could lead for both. They already have the JUCO 5* and a 5*, on some sites, from Florida in this class alone with a 3 and 4* committed. They would gladly take all 6, if numbers got tight the 3* kid better find somewhere to sign. This is to go alone with the 5* frosh is to likely start at RT with Robinson's no gametime loss, he was going to start at LT according to many of their fans if Robinson was suspended. Truthfully, no one is going to turn down 5* OTs if they want to come to your program regardless of how many you have.

Our Mods are saying that Brannon will grayshirt and enroll in the following spring. Randolph, who committed yesterday, was always going to be in this class. Brannon and Wilson (if we get him), will be Guards.

We're thin at tackle which is why we're recruiting a bunch of OT's in this class. We're losing 2 OT's after this season (3 if you count Brandon Greene, who rotates at both OT and TE), and Baldwin got kicked off the team. If Lester Cotton doesn't start, he is listed as a backup OT, and he's just not a OT. Hell, Bradley Bozeman is listed as a OT on some sites and he's just not a Tackle. Idk...maybe I'm in the minority on that. If we were to get all 6, it would like this:

OT (4): Leatherwood, Wills, Randolph, Baker
OG/OC (2): Brannon, Wilson

And we would return only Williams, Womack, and Lashley who are OT's. Although I personally don't like Lashley at Tackle.

Rammer, you are one of the more logical Bama posters, but even with just the kids you named off as returning OT's you have more depth there than anyone in the SEC and quite possibly the country if you signed 0 OTs in the 17 class. What you mean to say is you don't have more than 1 or 2 guys who could be all SEC in the second 5. We have 3 OTs on the roster and one is a grad transfer from Rhode Island, we will start at least 1 OG at OT this fall who is about 6'2" 280 because Richt wouldn't make OL a priority. If the grad transfer doesn't work out, both our starting OG will be playing OT. The smaller guy is great against the speed rushers, very athletic, 84" wingspan, but the bigger DE will give him trouble. But Kirby is trying to change that, we are getting bigger, and making OL a priority, Pittman is a good recruiter and OL coach. But Bama fans will get no sympathy when it comes to not having depth, you have more depth than any team in the country, and I think you know that.

Im just telling you what I know. If UK can start winning games and developing players we will win these recruiting battles.

UK has already worked miracles in recruiting, the 14 and 16 classes both outstanding, for UK, and some great underrated pickups after the defections in 15. Our 17 class is on the right track so far, IMO.

I expect to see some significant development this year and a much better record in 17.

You seem to be a grounded poster, like reasonsble discussion on the board. Sometimes its hard to talk about the cats when most on here are nothing but pom poms, nothing wrong with anything we are awesome. Lol
Welcome to the board.

What is your position on our offensive and defensive line play? Think it is just fine or do you think they could use better coaching? From your posts it seems the Wills are not that high on Schlarman, that true?

The Wills are concerned about players on the OL not developing. It's year 4. Put up or shut up. I understand their concern. John's a great guy who had to put up with Shannon Dawson. Maybe worst coach I've ever seen. Still though John has talent on the line this year. No excuses. I've noticed strength and conditioning is at another level. Our players look ripped. Guys on the OL pass the eye test.

So after committing to Bama is it going to be a soft commit? If our line shows major improvement with Gran do you think Wills would stay home?
I agree that the line has shown little improvement in 4 years, hopefully with Gran he will put his finger on the problem and do something about it.

What happened with the OL commit we had a few years back that flipped to Alabama? I don't remember hearing much about him after he flipped.

Not sure who you are talking about. Maybe you mean Derrick Kelly who is at FSU and is running 2nd string LT as a RS-So behind JR Roderick Johnson (1st team ACC last year).

I think that was him. He flew under the radar most of his recruitment. I thought he went to Alabama but maybe he was just from there.
