Our only hope to beat Bama is they fumble every possession and we recover every fumble and one of the recoveries is in field goal range.
Lets go down there, play solid, no turnovers, and get no one hurt. Keep it respectable.

Bama plays a Base 3 deep matchup zone. [rip/liz]They do play Cover 1 with a rat in the hole whichI would expect to see to stop the split zone and H power we ran succesfully vs SC.
Johnson will need to throw some jump balls to the outside opposite the rat when he gets the look. Similar to what Ole Miss did and see if the WR can pull it down.

Thats the exact loser mentality that too many of our fans have these days. Hell, lets just give Stoops a lifetime deal and just be happy losing 7 or 8 games year... .as long as we lose them and keep it reapectable it will be all good.
Until we the fans stop buying tickets to show the athletic dept that we wont except this crap, this is exactly what will happen. Demand better people!!!
I keep hearing about how great ourvreceivers are...lets find out...lets win some one on ones....im not saying wecare gonna win but dont play conservative....make some plays in passing game and keep running it and have fun....play with no pressure
OP has been exploited numerous times, unlike alabama's D this coming saturday.
It will be interesting to see what the players and coaches can do with this puzzle. I just remain hopeful that a lot of posters will be forced to reassess their position on the staff, even if perhaps after a loss.
Our offense is capable of scoring some points against bama, but they will run through our D-Line as if we are kindergartners.
Alabama is a puzzle that not even the greatest minds could figure out yet. If so they would lose more than 1 or 2 games a year.
I hope our guys go our there and play there best. If they do that and lose then its still respectable. To be complacent and to give up before the game is already played is mentally exhausting for them.

I think what Adolph is trying to say here is that they play a lot of "pattern match zone". This is somewhat the equivalent of match up zone in basketball.
Pure zones are characterized by some defenders dropping into zones which are not actually threatened by the offensive pattern. IOW, you have some guys "defending air". In the pattern match concept the secondary defenders "read" certain key receivers/routes and if their zone is not "threatened" they can match up with a man or help in a another zone.
As you might guess, it takes a lot of intelligence, discipline and game planning to effectively play this concept. On that latter point, you can often hit a big play or two if you can "force" a defender abandon his zone then come back and attack that void, presumably with something they have not seen in their scouting package.

We seem to play against styles similar to bama better than spread teams. In past Georgia game was always better than Florida. Spread teams have always gave us more fits. Bama has a qb who will run, but look for them to play more pro type and maybe play action a shot down field.
To have any chance, we have to muster long time consuming drives. We have to win time of possession and win turnover battle +3. (Have we caused or recovered a fumble this year?). But we have to hold them to fg when they get deep into our territory. Don't look for no trick plays or anything out of the norm. Bama will play very vanilla first half gland then go from what ballgame dictates. Look for a deep safety and eliminating the big td play from boom. Make us go 3-4 yards at a time. If we can limit 3 and outs to one or two a half we might look competive.
