Had the opportunity twice & chickened out. One was a known bad *** & his friends prevailed on him to save me. The other I was with my wife & we was badly outnumbered. I politely backed out the door. I'm a wus.

Agreed. Last fight I was in, I got laid smooth out by a roll of pennies in the parking lot of Golden Rule BBQ in Irondale. Parking lot was still gravel, so mid 90s? Woke up to some old women talking about calling the cops, blood and pennies everywhere... I got scooped up into a car and would forever be affectionately tagged with the moniker "penny lover."

Oh yeah.

I hung out with a friend for about a year when I was in my mid twenties. He had an uncanny way of pissing people off. That led to a lot of bar fights.

I finally had enough of that stuff, and we went our separate ways.

Used to happen pretty much every weekend between the Brewery downtown Lex and Bickets in Raywick. Back then you either took or gave an *** whipping and then went home. Lots more guns involved now so I wouldn’t be quite as bold as I was back then. I guess being 46 doesn’t help either but I could still tussle if I had to I guess, just take a lot longer to heal up.

If you used to fight at Bickets, you're tougher than Kroger meat. That place scared me at times. Lots of people been shot, stabbed and beat to hell there. Was there one night when an out of town biker gang thought they were going to take over, the local boys weren't having it. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

My wife (dating then) and 2 sisters used to bar tend at the local rock bar in Lawton OK. They had no bouncers so, anytime a fight broke out they tried to break it up. One night I was there and one broke out with just about half of the place going at it. A couple of friends of mine were out back fighting and I went out to try and stop it. When I came back in, my wife to be was not behind the bar so, I went looking for her. A normal patron of the bar told me she was stuck in the men's bathroom trying to break up a fight there so, I started wading through the people there and finally got to her and brought her back up to the bar. When we got behind the bar she noticed my arm and ask who bit me. Had no clue because I did not know that I had been bit but, sure enough, I had a bite mark in my right forearm. I was too busy worrying about getting to her that I did not pay any attention to who or what was in my way. That was the last bar fight (don't want to say I was in it because, I did not throw any punches) I was around.

Too many people from different counties went to Raywick to party. They rather fight than fuc.

So, any of you boys ever been to little place I like to call Shawneetown?

You mean the dirt road town that sold beer on Sundays ? Too many times. Madisonville was dry growing up and Shawneetown was only like 50 miles. Shiat nothing like a little Sunday drive to get beer.

I had the advantage of having family there, and am pretty decent sized so I didn't get into too many fights at Bickett's. It was much worse when it was up on the hill beside Fifth Wheel. I took some of my Lexington boys up there one night and we about got into it with half the bar over a pool game. Scary part of it back then was the State police post is in Columbia and they didn't like coming out there too much, nor did the local cops. So if you got into a good one you had no chance to get it stopped before it ended itself. Saw guys take bad beatings before the law could get there, if they even came out. Once Bickett's moved down off Raywick Rd it seemed to calm down a bit.

Honestly I was always more leery of Cozy Corner in Loretto than I was Bickett's. Seemed like Cozy always had Bardstown/St Catherine crew's there that had something to prove so there were more fights there than anywhere for the longest time. That place was insane for just the sheer number of fights. Cops were there a lot but it didn't seem to matter, brawls would break out any damn near any time of the day or night when it was rockin.

Got banned from a local spot when a bunch of 21/22-year olds were throwing ice at a passed out old guy at the bar. Told them to cut the ****, and they didn't. So myself and 3 others took care of business. It was a real bar clearing fight though.. chairs, glass being thrown. Won a 4 on 7 fight pretty easily, most of them weren't that committed to throw a punch, and in that scenario you better just walk out. But they got worked pretty good.

I've also been on the BAAADD side of a whooping after talking back to some locals in the city for hitting on my ex. That one was well deserved, should have known better.

Other than that, lost a few, won a few.. always over something stupid. 99% of the time it's because of a chick.

One of the best fights I have seen was another college vs local ordeals with a few classmates I knew. I was in the bathroom and heard a thud that was a distinct sound of a head being rammed into the wall. I walked outside to a guy I knew being held down/choked by two others, while two MORE came through with glass bottles to the head, like a one-two punch: BAM BAM. But he got up and took some names.

Lots of blood, and then others got involved.. I had to play peacemaker and keep girls out of the way (very thin long bar that's kind of a bottle neck, so no one could escape easily).

But the sight of those two bottles cracking over a head was kind of surreal. Glass went everywhere.

Been in a couple , one at a bar , one at a private party , all over chicks . Certainly not worth it .. Ok the first one was .. I was 18-19 , she was 26 . LOL . And I won that one .. Girl is still married to the same guy now 30 years late , guess he really loved her . The other was with a " friend" whose girlfriend called the moment they separated one week . I really didnt want to fight the guy as he was considered a friend by me and I told him " dude she said you all were done " and i actually backed down to his challenge at the party .. then on the way home thought " Screw that I'm no chicken " and turned around and we git into it .. even though this was in the 80's dude must have been into karate or kickboxing , he kicked my legs a bunch as we threw hands , with the adrenalen flowing I ignored the leg kicks but the next day I was black n blue on both legs . We both landed some shots and called it a night . That one WASNT worth it .

Turned one down last year also , right in the middle of a open highway over road rage ... guy said i ran him off the road in a tight curve ( I did squeeze him ) but it wasnt like a near head on collision . He whipped his car around , chased me for a mile or so , passed me , blocked the road , got out of his car and came running up my truck like a lunatic .. he was prob 32-34 , Im 52 ... I seriously apologize , told him I was sorry I on the middle line , so he keeps it up .. I'm gonna do this , I'm gonna do that , so I get out of my truck and just tell the guy " Ok go ahead and throw the first punch and we will see" He looked at me like I was nuts .. told him , you want to get it on throw a punch ... My wife at this point has caught up to us and is watching , pistol in purse . He finally just goes back to his truck .. A true Idiot . I've tried to track that guy down and see if he wanted to finish the disagreement by asking some friends about his description and vehicle , couldnt find him . Prob for the better

Sounds like that time I called some girl a two-bit ***** and she hit me over the head with a sack full of quarters.

had a dude take a haymaker at me when I was turning around years ago. he was wearing brass knuckles to boot. thank god my peripheral vision was on spidey senses. I dodged just fast enough to make him miss and then grabbed his arm. didn't really know what to do, so I dotted an eye, and he ran in and got all his biker buddies. I left. quickly.

One thing i WILL NOT do if i think there may be a altercation is say "throw the first punch." Generally speaking when i used to fight, i always liked to throw the first punch. I always felt like the chance of winning definitely increased if i could land the first big shot.

Always aim for the nose.

No matter how big the dude is, a direct shot to the nose will stun the hell out of him.

Long enough to either jump on him and finish him off, or run like hell.

My W-L record hovers around .500.
