Safe? In Lexington I'd say most bars are safe. If you want huge and packed, LexLive across from Rupp is a good choice.
If you want cozy speakeasy, you'll have to wait until a Lexington native chimes in (although Nic & Norman's made me the best Old Fashioned I've ever had in my entire life when I was there for work/game last season!).
