If you worked in the St. Matthews area a couple days a week and traveled for work the rest of the time where which would you choose to live in and why?

Ok i live in lagrange and i am here every day. Here now. I love it. Its like a town stuck in time. If you ever see be kind signs they were started here.

It is very conservative. You will probably see confederate flags 5 x a month. I dont like that much but the people who libs detest.... we are all in lagrange.i give trump gear to customers and there is a trump store here by tractor supply. < plz bite your tongue libs and resist mocking us in this thread>

The law enforcement presence here is on roids. 4 depts. Lagrange police oc police oc sherrif staties. Plus luther luckett state prison. You will get thrown in jail very quickly if u screw around in the oc boss

Most the money comes fr rawlings corp in lagrange . He is very very conservative thank God. I love this town always have always will.

What are the multiple reasons you would choose LaGrange?

1) Logistics
- You would be much, much closer to St. Matthews area for work, to Louisville in general for entertainment, and to Cincy/Indy.
- Bardstown is only about 20 minutes closer to Lextown than LaGrange if you have to travel there for work.
- If your other work travels will take you south of Bardstown (E-Town, BG, Nashville, WKY) then things even out more on the work travel front...obviously.

2) Less crime.

3) Better schools.

4) Better neighborhoods.

5) I have two friends that live in the LaGrange area who grew up in Bardstown...one went to Nelson Co HS and the other went to Bardstown HS. They would both tell you the exact same thing.

6) Personally, I would choose a different section of Oldham County...but LaGrange is nice too...it has a small town feel while only being about 20-30 minutes from anything you want to do in Louisville.

7) I would even choose Shelby County over Nelson County for many of the same reasons listed above.

I live in Crestwood and work in St Matthews. 100% OC. Much easier drive and if you have kids, OC schools are top notch. Like someone said above, I would pick another part of the county but that's just me. 71 can definitely be a pain but so can 65. I often take 22 into town when 71 is jammed up.

I skipped the possibilities and moved to St. Matthews in 1991. Quite happy. Wife has lived here all her life, 1958.

I love St. Mathews but we have 5 kids so we’re looking for a decent lot and we can get so much more house outside of the area.

I was born in St Matthews and moved to Crescent Hill out of college. Looked and looked in St Matthews but you get twice the house for the same price out Brownsboro Road/42 area. We moved from Summit area to OC due to schools but I bet we end back up in St Matthews when the kids are out. I have a small rental in St Matts. The dirt is expensive.

There’s a Mormon Temple in Crestwood if that sort of thing is your bag.

If you like Bourbon, Bardstown by a hundred miles. Otherwise Oldham County is probably a better place to be.

Live in Lagrange myself. And would agree with all the previously stated reasons over Bardstown.

Nothing against Bardstown....just a little out of the way from where you need to be.

Shelby county and even Henry county might be worth checking out as well with easy access to east Louisville.

Though Henry county would not have a lot of the services. You would still be going to lagrange or shelbyville to say...grocery shop.

As to the "Trump store" its more of a pop up stand that usually appears around election time.

And yes your going to have the "pickup parade" with Confederate and Maga flags flying on poles bolted to their truck bed.

While I find both of these personally objectionable, I've come to grudgingly accept it as part of living here.

I worked in LaGrange for 25 years. Loved the area. There are multiple ways in to Louisville from LaGrange (Hwy 42 or 22). Hell you can even take Hwy 53 to 64 if you want to head to Lexington.

Confederate flags being flown in one, the BMG (Bardstown Money Gang) rep the other. Can't go wrong with either place really. Such outstanding members of the community and represent each area well. I just do not know if given the choice, of which i would go with.

I'm a Henry Co resident and what you said is true except we do have a Save a lot and a local mom and pop grocery store.

I live on the line of JeffCo and Oldham County having moved from the south end.

We are much happier where we are now. Is traffic bad? Yes. Is it worth it to be able to do anything we want within 10 minutes? Yup.

Thank you all for the advice. We are designedly focused in on the LaGrange, Crestwood, Middletown area...and not E Town haha.
