Maybe he's still getting into game shape after his foot injury, and they are being conservative with him.
Could also be they want to red shirt him given the small 2022 class......
Collins answered that question clearly in the post-game interview. Barnhizer has the flu (hopefully not Covid) and wasn't at the game, resting up back in his dorm. Everyone is interested in seeing what he brings to the team, apparently including Collins.
