I would not be so quick to anoint Barrington. Congratulations to them tonight but by I’d like to see what would happen if MS had their starting QB.

Not annointing. Just saying they consistently have not been winning big games like this over the past decade, despite being very very good. As far as MS not having their starting QB, as a Palatine fan I know that feeling all too well.

I think we all remember Palatine losing their starting QB that year. Tough loss. That was an excellent Palatine team.

Ugly game by MS. I mean fuggly. Barrington will win out and lose in the second round. Let's hope MS can heal up the next few weeks and play smarter. Damn that was ugly.

Did the Maine South starting QB play defense? Was he a gunner when they gave up an 88 yd KO return? Asking for friends that shall remain nameless

Agreed. What’s a starting QB worth anyway? Like, what, 3 maybe 4 points? Big deal. Lol

They aren’t the only ones and I get it because they don’t lose much but man Maine South doesn’t really know how to lose.

So what is Maine South gonna do for the next 3-4 weeks without him and potentially without their starting stud tackle.

Maine South is very good, but for tonight, Barrington was better.

I bet MS’s 2016 squad would relinquish their title and give it to Palatine. It seems like the right thing to do.

During my time at MS we have lost 3 state championships in a row, got our butts handed to us on ESPN and shut out by LA in the playoffs. Yes we know how to lose but we sure don’t like it.
I feel very bad for Conant next week. MS will be just fine. Inserra and his staff will do what they do and MS will be right there at the end.

Dumbest post ever
Please explain. It’s an opinion that I’ve heard multiple times on here. I would say if oles wasn’t hurt Palatine would have an excellent chance of winning a state title that year. Is that dumb too? It was 14-7 with 10 minutes left in the fourth with a qb that wasn’t half as good as oles.

If the queen had balls she’d be king.

Did the NFL send their Thursday night crew to do the game? Two top teams in the state and there were 20 penalties enforced for 179 yards.
Always good to see you Quags,Edgy and Kevin Smith(right?). Sorry it wasn’t a better showing. Come see us again in week 10.

MS was lucky that Barrington's QB was hurt two weeks prior to that game, otherwise they don't even get past that one. Barrington moved the ball with their best receiver at QB.

Then MS gets Palatine with a backup QB heading into 30+ MPH winds to start the game. MS gets two quick scores, game over.

No way they stack the box early against Palatine going into the wind with Oles' arm and the Palaine receivers and get away with it. But hey, what do I know?

On the other note, MS and their coaches did an outsanding job in the title game.

Agreed. Seen these kids coming up thru the past couple of years and wasn't super amazed or anything. Do not see the new QB as in the same mold as Davidson or Niro... More of a program QB. That said, they were able to pull off a win at MS. Though, they did that a few years back too during the regular season and then lost to MS in the playoffs.

The officiating was possibly the worst I’ve ever seen.

More penalities in the WV/NV game. Someone said over 30 but the Daily Herald has it in the mid 20’s for 250ish yards. About half were personal foul/unsportsmanlike against WV. They announced the crew doing the officiating did the 4A title game last year and other than the massive amounts of unsportsmanlike flags - I thought they did a pretty good job. Maybe there is less smack talking in the lower sized classes?

Did anyone get ejected? That seems excessive if not.

Nope. I’m sure some were legit, but others were maybe the refs trying to keep super close reigns on the game or something. It seemed like every third play there was a late flag after the play and 15 yards (only thing it could be is jawing at players or refs or something similiar because the play was done).

Full disclosure: There was an incident 2 years ago in the NV/WV game where 3 guys were ejected (kids from both teams) and also last year 1 player ejected and suspended for the next game,....so in fairness there is a lot of “history” to be concerned about where I’m sure officials would be wanting to nip that stuff early before it gets out of control.

And since NV/WV play each other twice this year in the regular season (could maybe meet a third time in the playoffs) the refs may have been on high alert to keep things from getting out of hand.
