Shadek will be playing in the warm weather next season. Saw this coming but it is what it is. B1G loss for Rutgers staff .

We can replace several of them probably easily . Most of these players are here because the potential has been there. My issue is losing several top pitchers now and last season. Add on injuries and it is like starting from scratch. This seldom happened prior to NIL so Owens needs some help retaining the better players. As disappointing as it is losing good pitchers yearly I still want Owens to succeed and the team to generate excitement for the fan base.

Interestingly enough, former Rutgers RHP Christian Coppola -- who transferred to Arizona this past year -- has entered the portal after only appearing in 3 games for the Wildcats this past season (all in relief, only 2.1 innings). Not sure if he was injured.

Wonder if Coach Owens takes another run at him.

Not happening in this lifetime. If Owens did he loses any credibility he still has.

Losing Landon Mack also is not good. I didn’t catch that and Gleason’s entry into the portal. It is going to be tough since our cash flow in baseball is very poor. We will continue to be mediocre at this rate.

“Not good” doesn’t even begin to capture the impact of Mack’s departure. It’s frankly devastating.

Definitely a B1G loss again in the pitching dept. I realize there is no longer any loyalty in college sports but the HC has now lost more decent pitchers in the past 2 seasons than we should have. The B1G in baseball has become a feeder conference for both the SEC and ACC . A bigger issue is the team gets very little support all around from administration and fans. This 2026 season will need to show something other than “ they played well .” It appears a number of RU fans were more concerned with bathrooms and some additional padded seating with beer and burgers . Better hope Schiano can win the next 10 years as football pays the bills.

Mack was pretty obvious, no way he was sticking around after the year he had. I just hope some kids look at what happened with CC and realize the grass isn’t always greener. Sometimes it’s better to stay with a staff that can develop you and you play regularly than going to a bigger school and getting stuck. You may miss out on some NIL but at least now you have more draft tape and that’s what really matters.

In case you missed this nugget we are a “Bigger “ school. We also were a well respected baseball program for many years . If you mean a warm weather climate then yes . Note: ASU is not anywhere near what it once was in baseball. Didn’t Coppola have an arm injury prior to last season? The Rutgers staff has suffered injuries to a number of good pitchers and the past several years and to the portal. Had we retained some of these young arms the past 2 seasons we would have a good to very good outlook in 2026. As long as we get those coveted concessions stands, bathrooms , and add 3500 cushioned seats , new press box all will be good .
