Ok, Hawk fans. Everybody watching the Tournament games....right? It is Winter time, not much else to do. So, been watching a lot of games. Almost every game I have watched has defensive players 'flopping' (it looks to me). I just witnessed another one. A guy who is 6'8", weighs about 225 lbs. incurs minimal contact and 'flops' back about 6ft. Really? Guards do it also....but the big guys? Wouldn't it take a big blow to knock someone that big backwards? Yup....offensive foul. Why in the hell can't the NCAA do something about this? Same goes for faking injuries in fb games. These guys aren't stupid. They see it and they do it and get away with it. It is just terrible officiating.

The technical for flopping rule lasted about a week. LOL Then it was back to business as usual.

Of course, the rules also say something about 3 seconds in the lane, dribbling by keeping your hand on TOP of the ball, establishing ONE pivot foot, and so on. But today's basketball--men's and women's--has little to do with any of these rules about flopping, dribbling, or traveling. The only reason you see moves today that you never used to see is that they are illegal. To make those moves you have to carry the ball and/or travel and/or hang in the lane for more than three seconds. Those violations of fundamental basketball rules used to be called. Not so much anymore. And, IMHO, the game is the worse for it.

Flopping? You're right. It's going on everywhere, and nobody is calling it, which also is a detriment to basketball.

Since the same bad flop-noflop calls are being made in the tournament, just like the B1G officiating,…
How do rate the tournament vs B1G officiating so far?
Unfortunately, I’m thinking way too similar.
Judging from the number of replays, the game has essentially passed by all these refs, too.

Some commentator made the point if they are going to call those 'slide in front of the player driving' charges they might as well tell players to never drive. It's ridiculous. I would love if they just started erring on the side of defensive foul for that crap.

The Euro step? really? The flop, dancing the pivot foot, 3 seconds, the carry(We used to call it palming back in the day) are all gone. It would be nice if the call was tightened up but I don't expect it anytime soon.
