Willycat - Was that a shot at me? Yes, I am a Hawkeye fan first but also a very big Northwestern fan. My daughter is in her second year at NU. My wife is grad of Kellogg. I have season tickets to football and all the theater productions. I go to many other sporting events at Northwestern. I went to the bowl game in Tampa. I wear my purple proudly. I don't understand the hatred by you. The reason many schools have so many fans is because they accept people who did not attend their University. It is why NU can never fill their seats at sporting event without the visiting team. Stop the hatred.

feiler, I don't hate you or almost anyone else and my response was mostly in jest. It's great that you support the Cats but what purpose does such a poll accomplish? Actually nothing.

Blame the internet. It is reducing Americans to a bunch of thoughtless bullies. Just look at how unpresidential half the candidates in the Republican party are acting toward each other and some of them are winning because for some reason we no longer find cogent argument and strategies for government appealing and have traded it in for bellicose posturing with half truths and accusations. Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Ford, Goldwater never acted like half the candidates we have served up for us but people are eating it up and emulating the behavior.

Gee, sounds like some board members. Those who shout the loudest make some discussions here like a Trump campaign stop.

That was my point. The anonymous ability to be brash is spilling over into real life. Culture changes.

That's the problem. You have to survive to advance.

Hopes a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. Andy Dufresne

In reality, hope is the worst of all evils, because it prolongs the torment of man. Friedrich Nietzsche

I prefer the first quote.
