I saw a review where they discussed this topic and they suggested something that made a lot of sense. First, the motivations for why Batman is opposed to Superman are made very clear. The film spends a lot of time setting this up. However, we get very little about the motivations for why Superman is out to stop Batman. If they actually focused on this more in the movie, it would have certainly made it better. If Superman is saying that I am stopping you from murdering these people, that makes sense. We could even have a scene where Alfred calls Bruce out on this tactic, and we get to see Batman's moral dilemma over this. He could tell us "I had to start killing because of..."

Since we don't get any of that it really makes it hard to see these scenes in the movie, especially given that the last Batman trilogy actually focused on him making a choice to not kill. It was just one big miss opportunity that could have turned this film into the best of its genre as opposed to the OK fun movie that it became.

There was such an easy writing solution to fix things. Earlier in the movie, Lex has his men kidnap Martha Kent and spends time pinning it on batman all while he's spending time making batman fear superman . If Superman thought batman had kidnapped his mother as a way to get to him then that gives real motivation for the fight.

Saw it tonight and thought it was damn good. I don't need my superhero movies to be like Citizen Kane. Thought Affleck nailed it, and Irons leaps over Caine as best Alfred. Loved Wonder Woman and didn't think it was too long or boring at all.

Looking forward to the next installment.

Well, there is the whole branding thing, mixed with screams of abuse from criminals.

You are actually right, its does seem like nobody cares about this movie at all anymore.

There's no doubt WB needs to make some changes going forward. They're already supposedly tweaking Suicide Squad, which doesn't thrill me, but we'll see what happens. BvS will still turn a profit so it won't be a John Carter or Lone Ranger type situation, but WB really needed a home run and they didn't get it. While I liked what Snyder did with Watchmen, they probably do need to bring someone else in to guide the franchise. I don't think they need to go as light as Marvel, I just think they have to make a better film, and if they can do that, that alone will resonate with audiences.

Marvel bounced back from a mediocre to poor film with their second franchise entry (The Incredible Hulk), but they also didn't have as much riding on that film.

It'll be interesting to see what happens going forward. In the meantime, I'm pumped for Civil War.

Zack Snyder is an absolute **** and the person(s) who handed him the keys to this franchise should be publicly executed.

300, while visually breathtaking, was a ****** movie. He's somehow managed to turn that into a succession of similarly visually striking ****** movies and people keep giving him money to do it. Nice gig.

I hope not. I'm a big Christopher Nolan fan.

Christopher Nolan hand selected Snyder to direct these films?

I remember some story about Snyder calling Nolan to ask for his blessing and Nolan being like, uh, whatever.

Nolan hand picked him for Man of Steel. Nolan is listed as a producer for BvS, but didn't really play a role in the film.

Snyder needs a producer that can rein him in. I personally liked Man of Steel but one thing I noticed about BvS was that the editing seemed a little off. A hands-on producer might be able to help with some of that. Snyder can make great movies to look at but they can be poorly edited. My hope is that George Miller comes on to produce Justice League 1.

It was just an amazing fanboyish response and it cracked me up at how much Ron Mexico bothers him.

Finally saw it last night. I rarely see Superhero movies, but this one seemed like a pretty good movie overall.

Irons was fantastic. Eisenberg plays a pretty good creep, although the head shaving was a bit predictable.

The only scene that seemed forced was the "You're letting them kill Martha" scene. A bit corny, but it did lead to a pretty good bit of directing. In movies like this, with constant loud music and noise, the director does a good job of cutting it as Batman reconsidered killing Superman. The sound cuts and you just hear the sounds of the suit moving, that makes him more than just a flawed aging man.

I liked it and would be interested in seeing what comes next.

I won't see an Aquaman standalone movie. He looks super gay.

The experts say this movie has to make 800 Million $ to make a profit and they are still like 77 million away from that point.

The rate that this movie is dropping ... is it going to make it there?

I saw a projection a couple days ago of about $895M. It's still doing fairly well overseas.

Saw it last night, and thought there was just too much going on, and the other JL characters' cameos looked like they may have been thrown in the week before its release. Casting that girlish Eisenberg as Luthor seemed like a nod to the fanboys who pay big $'s and need someone in these movies to relate and look up to.

Saw it this afternoon with my daughters, and thought it was a good movie.

I liked it much better than the second Avengers, Deadpool or even the The Dark Knight Rises.

Really enjoyed Afflecks Batman, a lot more power in this versions fighting style.

Ok, I watched Man of Steel 2 weeks ago and Batman v Superman Friday night. I thought man of Steel was excellent. Would have put it behind Guardians, Antman, Cap WinterSoldier, and The Avengers 1 on Marvel side, but better than the rest.

SPOILERS I though Batman v Superman was good, but they should have done the Batman v Superman thing and had them save Martha Kent and ended the movie with Lex getting away. Saved the doomsday plot for a movie I would have called Dawn of Justice. (See what I did there). I thought Ben Affleck was awesome. I felt like we just met the real Bruce Wayne after all these years on screen. I thought Wonder Woman was fine, but the music for her was stupid. The contrived intro to the other characters was stupid.

Re Suicide trailer, are they changing Harley's origin from the aimed series? Also much like it is hard to hear a Batman not sound like Kevin Conroy it's weird hearing Margot do her voice.

We don't really know how her origin is being handled, although there is an image of her as a psychiatrist so it isn't being totally changed, but I think it will differ some from Mad Love.

As great as Sorkin/Strong were, I don't know that the voice works for live action.

I think Leto is a decent actor, was terrible in most fun led, but really thought Dallas Buyers Club was Oscar worthy.

That being said, Joker is a hard character to play, especially with Ledger's being such a knockout.

I think Leto is a little too obvious and insecure, but who knows.

With Ledger, he never came out and said he was crazy, you could just tell he was. I feel like Leto will be "hey, look at me, I'm crazy, I have tattoos."

Who knows? Affleck was decent, not great, a realistic Batman, and a good Bruce Wayne. I think suicide squad is going to have to revolve around a few good actors, especially Joker.

Finally saw it last night. About 1/2 hour too long in middle but I enjoyed it. Wonder Woman was a badass but I couldn't get over her accent

I saw somewhere that Superman had less than 80 lines the whole movie? Eisenberg was over the top and it did seem like they pushed too many things. Less Laurence Fishburne and more Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash. Overall I enjoyed it. More fight scenes and less standing around in the next one please
