Gates was at the Press Conference, I thought I remembered reading that he was in consideration for an assistant position under Hoiberg?

Gates may be retained and there's a couple of other names being floated who apparently have had some contact with NU.

Gates went on the in home visit today with Hoiberg and Matt A to see Arop. It would seem he is still on board? I’m ok with that!

There’s talk that Henry was offered a “front office” position like director of basketball ops or something similar and not an assistant coach position.
I suspect that Hoiberg is going to get to hire some very capable people as "administrators" who will be able to help with x's and o's and recruit evaluation. As with Frost, there's going to likely be more staff available IMO.

Per Moos on Sports Nightly last night, Hoiberg is in hot pursuit of a top defensive coach. Should be wrapped up by early next week.

Charlie Henry will not be coming here, heading to Alabama with Nate Oats. Kind of surprising.

Not that surprising if Oats is giving him a full assistant coach spot.

Here he was going to have a scouting/prep role but not actually be one of the three assistants who could recruit and be on the bench during games.

Do we know the new assistants yet? Hoiberg was just on FS1 at the baseball game and he said now that we have our staff set, we can focus on getting some guys on board that we like?

Sounds like Bobby Lutz is on board, and probably retaining Armon Gates.

I guess I have no problem with lutz and Doc, but does seem like an "older" group. Happy to see doc on the sidelines again.

Abdelmassih and Gates are young, they would be the recruiters. Lutz and Doc would bring tons of head coaching experience, they would likely focus on game planning and opponent scouting. It would be a good balance.
