It wouldn’t matter if Pope hired Brad Stevens for the role, Pope is STILL the head coach, and is going nowhere but further down!

You know when something goes off script during a circus, and they bring in the clowns for a distraction? That’s where UK CBB is at the moment.

Pilgrim calls the hire a home run. I don’t see home run here. Former BYU buddy.

Previous Experience: Most recently, he was the head video coordinator for the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks' G League affiliate.
BYU Tenure: Brown spent five seasons on Mark Pope’s staff at BYU, where his duties included video, analytics, in-game strategy, NIL cap management, and transfer portal management, notes KSR

Absolutely agree. When I saw him tweet homerun I was encouraged. Then i started looking. This guy doesn't move the needle. He's just another culture guy who's willing to come here.

We didn't need another nerd to tell us we aren't good. We need someone to change the fact we aren't good.

That resume does absolutely nothing for me if he's supposed to be heading up recruiting in this role.

Duke hires an executive from Nike and we hire the video coordinator for a G League team, makes sense!

if this guy was so great, why didn’t Pope bring him over from BYU when he got hired?
This right here. Duke is a serious program and they have been meticulous about building out the program post Coach K. I hate their guts and hope that Scheyer continues to choke in big games, but they’ve put on a masterclass in protecting the brand through times of drastic change.

Meanwhile we’ve got top-button doing whatever to line his pockets while he shoots yes-men from the hip. F.uck Mitch Barnhart.

Based on purely nothing more than what I’ve read, my feeling is this role will basically be an assistant to a GM hire.

Pope made a comment about how a GM role could make “communication” more challenging. I think this guy will be the “translator” between Pope, the GM, agents, etc.

I think we’re going to start seeing more college programs and coaches look like NBA franchises where the coach basically coaches only and does not have the only word on players. It will be slightly more shaded toward coach input than the NBA does but I think we’re moving towards that.

Regardless of whether Pope lasts beyond next season. We need to build a front office.
