Be honest, Defensive players not very good in 3-4

3-4 requires quickness and tackles that can get a push leaving the LBs loose to make the tackles.

That scheme will not work at UK and it needs to be changed. And you can tell me that in the entire state of Kentucky you can't find 2-3-4 players that have the size and strength to hold their on against anyone. The defense Stoops runs is very predictable and it seems his defensive philosophy or hardheadness to make changes is bad for the type of players he recruited.

Most bad defenses even really bad ones try to take something away from the others team offense.
I really only see slow players, with no techniques to stop the run, no pass rush out of the 3-4, and no LBs filling gaps.

Look fellas, with Hatcher, Meant, and Tubman, the defense changes but now UK does not have a team of defensive players that is suited for the 3-4. Trying to make it work because you like that defense won't make it work.

Maybe someone who follows teams in the SEC can answer this. How many teams other than UK runs a 3-4?

I'm willing to wager UK would only be marginally better if Meant, Hatcher and Tubman were still at UK.

- Hatcher had 4.5 QB sacks in 3 years at UK. Some act like he was Lawrence Taylor. He wasn't that great even while not being higher than a kite.
- Our Lbers are a total joke beside Jordan Jones.
- DBs have all taken a huge step back this year so far.
- Elam is a total bust

Moreover, Meant was a marginal SEC player at best. Tubman never played for us. I have no idea whether he would have been good or not. Hatcher was a true SEC talent, but not a SEC performer. I doubt these guys would have been a significant difference.

Never saw Tubman play; Hatcher was put in wrong position to be successful.Meant was average at beast.

After watching this defense I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter the scheme. These coaches are just terrible at developing and coaching up these players. If you watch the d-line they stand straight up every single time and don't explode off of the ball. As soon as the ball is snapped they're pushed back 2-3 yards. They rarely ever get penetration. It was so bad tonight that even the commentators were talking about how they just stand straight up. It doesn't matter what kind of scheme you're running when you're not properly coaching technique with your d-linemen and linebackers.
