I hope he understands his words are weightless and no one takes him seriously he is like Dabo without the wins and Championships - a clown

He can say whatever he wants. With next year's schedule we are unlikely to win more than 3 games. If I am Sellers, Stewart, Harbor, why stay? Money is imminently better elsewhere. Shane is already fired, he knows it. In a year with LSU, Florida, and Auburn open there wouldn't be a chance to hire anyone but the next Shane Beamer. On the plus side, my Saturdays just got freed up in 2026.

I have never seen anyone so willing to dig their own grave! I guess he won't mind packing his crap when he doesn't meet his projected expectations 2 years in a row.

Not that it makes much difference, but wasn't his claim actually that after 10 weeks, we would be in contention for the playoffs next year?

I am still astonished that after rolling the dice on a failed SEC Head Coach (Muschamp), we would immediately roll the dice, again, on someone who has never even been an OC nor DC much less a Head Coach (just like Arkansas did with Sam Pittman). I don't think Jeremiah Donati will be foolish and make such mistakes.

We had an artificial AD back then.

Maybe the AD will hold him to that standard next year.

I wonder if he even looked at next year's schedule. I'm sure that all those teams will not just collapse. I'd rather we went with a new coach and go 4-8 instead of staying with Beamer and going 4-8 if we're lucky.

Something like: "We're gonna get to work turning this thing around to ensure that this kind of season never happens again. It's my fault and it's my job to fix it."

He doesn't have to make himself a national laughingstock by predicting we'll be in the CFP.

To be unnecessarily fair... I think he said that this time next year we'll be watching the playoff ranking show to see where we are. Technically that means he's saying that we expect to be in the Top 25 at that point.

Still an unnecessary prediction in a desperate attempt to try to take the heat off him presently.

Yes, he said, "I do know next year at this time, we're going to be sitting here on this Tuesday night, watching the playoff rankings to see where we are,"

But isn't it fair to ask why mention that at all if his intent is to not be in the playoffs? Late NOV looking at the playoff rankings, they go to 25 but only 12 matter. I don't know why he bothered using the word playoff at all. So what can happen now is if they find themselves at 16 then the backtracking will be "I didn't guarantee playoffs". The whole thing was just unnecessary, he may be developing a bad habit making unprovoked proclamations.

He talks to the media like he's talking to the players. He has to stop trying to motivate everyone OUTSIDE of the program and take care of business INSIDE.

Well that’s pretty much what he said after every game we lost this year; this time he said something different. It’s just coachspeak being made a big deal of by those hoping he’d be canned.

Come on, you have to admit it sounded awful gooberish.

I can't think of another coach, of any team with any record, proclaiming they will be in the CFP next year.

What he said is not coach speak. It's too definite for that. Coach speak is much more vague. Vagueness and generalities are the defining feature of coach speak. Saying we're going to be in the playoff isn't that.

Nope, it’s just coachspeak friend; sorry.

Yes, it was still a ridiculous thing to say . . . but if we're going to get each other worked into a frenzy, we should at least be accurate about what he said.

This.

The comment was cringe worthy, extremely cringe worthy.

Not even close. Have you ever heard coach speak in your life? You keep using the term, but it is evident that you don’t actually know what it means. You’re just repeating something you’ve heard to explain away anything a coach says.
Granted it’s not a typical cliche which is probably how you see ‘coach speak’. It’s a tell the room what they want to hear at this moment, give the faithful a warm and fuzzy. It’s Beamer’s style. If you’re looking at it like Namath’s guarantee to beat the Colts in Superbowl III, you’re wrong.

Yeah, wild claims of playoff seasons dont really fall under the definition of coachspeak. Coachspeak is more what you say when you dont want to state the obvious, imo.

This was a guy who knows he's nearing the end of his road, and he's desperate to throw out something he thinks will calm or encourage the natives.

It bombed. And it made him look foolish.

As you said, he should have gone with actual coachspeak. Like "We're gonna get to work turning this thing around to ensure that this kind of season never happens again. It's my fault and it's my job to fix it."
