Well if he leaves I hope Gamecock Nation doesnt repeat the garbage we did last time yelling “but he aint got no SEC experience” for any candidate who isnt a former SEC head coach or assistant. Believe it or not, there are GREAT coaches at all levels of college football.

I doubt he will leave, but if he does we need to hire someone like Clark Lea or Alex Golesh. History tells us we will hire a fired retread like Gus Malzahn.

Yes. Exactly like that. It was a very smart hire at the time. Most coaching hires don’t work out. But that gives you your highest chance of success.
His role as the OC for FSU under Bowden was misrepresented and we fell for it. Should never have been hired.

Let’s see how Clark Lea does when Pavia leaves.
I'm sure there are people saying the same about Beamer and Sellers. If Sellers, Harbor and Steward all leave after this season, Beamer will have some huge holes to fill in the roster.

Hindsight is always 20/20. At the time it was widely regarded by all outlets as a great hire.
Bowden let Scott take any coach he wanted and basically we got the coaching staff that just won the national championship. With one major exception. I was excited at the time.

I cannot recall a single instance where gamecock fans ever did not think the new coach was going to be great. I distinctly recall fans on FGF posting that they were happy we hired Muschamp instead of Kirby and that Muschamp was by far a better hire because he had head coach experience in the SEC and Kirby was nothing without Saban.

This is true, but to be fair, I do remember that some who were not enamored with the WM hire due to his lack of success at UF.
Neither here or there at this point.
