What I observed with the league this week so far, was a bunch of guys on defense doing a lot of chasing. In the noon and 3:00 windows, 10 teams scored over 30 points. And in those 12 games, 75 touchdowns were scored too. That's a lot.

I know, with the conditions and heat it couldn't have been much fun to be on defense in Carolina and chasing guys around. I would be willing to bet when the players and coaches got on that plane home and in that cooler air, more than a few snoozed or fell asleep.

Now the Bears have some tough games ahead of them with the Vikings and Eagles coming to town. Jets game will be a win and then it's off to Green Bay. It would be nice to see them win three of those.

We may not like where the Bears D is at right now but lets live in reality and understand what they are. They will again depend on TOs.

Can't continue to live like it's 40 years ago, the playoffs have expanded. In short, to your point I would say that Seattle lost week 1 last year and won the Super Bowl.

Regardless of where or when in the season they're played I don't put too much weight on team's performance in the international games.

I was giving you a very good example of how one game, regardless of when it's played, can determine playoff placement or making the playoffs at the end. Not living like it's 40 years ago because the example is timeless. Many championships and playoff appearances in all sports are won and lost early in the season through the mid-point. It is hard to play catchup, although it does happen.

The end determines who wins it all...if all things are equal or close at Thanksgiving. But if you start slow or lose early to potential playoff teams it can, and more often than not, eliminate a team. I have seen it a lot.

2026 week one average was 27 points per game compared to 23 points per game in 2025 (all weeks). So yes, teams averaged 4 points more per game in week 1 compared to 2025 season average.

From watching the game live here are a few things that stood out to me a little. Again this is from a live watch, didn't watch all-22.
- Thieneman and Muhammad both showed at times.
- Caleb seems to like Rayond on 3rd down.
- Loveland with only 2 targets. Would like to hear Johnson's comment on that today.
- OL played great in run game and solid in pass game.
- Love the WRs giving big time effort to block in run game.
- 10/14 on 3rd down, yes please.
- Obviously penalties, week 1 but Ben is gonna have a talk about that for sure.
- Caleb seemed to make quicker decisions on scrambling for the 1st down instead of trying for "hero" play, same with some check downs, and that throw to Kmet was ridiculous. Very few if any "damn you got to make that gimmie throw".
- MN will present a different D with blitzes so that will be interesting.

It seemed to me like Carolina thought if they shut down Loveland they would shut down the offense. I think they put so much focus on him it opened up everything else.
