You weather the storms ok? We got hit hard here but managed to miss the big tornado. Hearing Coal City got hit bad, hearing houses leveled.

Wow, that's no good. Sounds like they got a touchdown there. I'm clear off in the northwest burbs, it was very light out here. A lot of rain lately, but thankfully nothing violent. Where are you guys?

It has made me glad I dug a trench for my sump line to drain out. Previous owner just had it emptying into the yard and the lawn was lower than the curb. Half the front yard was a swamp that included part of the neighbors' yard. People looked at me a little funny while I was doing it and before the grass grew back. All their sumps are (illegally) piped into the sewer. Now it flows over the curb and into the gutter, no problemo.

I was working in Ottawa when it went through, had to take our inmates downstairs to take cover because it was very close to us. Glad to hear you were way out of the way. My wife and I were actually up in Northbrook this last week. We were supposed to go out to Virginia but because of water in our basement we had to cancel our trip and made an overnight trip into the Chicagoland area instead.

I hear you on the sump. One of ours drains just outside of the house, making it kind of pointless. I added another hose to it so it gets farther out. We are looking at adding a THIRD sump pit because the two we have aren't where we get water infiltrating, and adding a baseboard system to redirect the water coming from the wall/floor joint. The joys of owning an 80 year old house I guess.

We had almost zero rain last night in Old Irving Park. But 'lo the 100-year old home's foundation. I vacuumed seeping water every puck stop during Stanley Cup game 6.
