I’m guessing PSU didn’t have the top Turfgrass program in the country at the time of the first pic.

Is that Pattee and Old Main in the background of pic 2? That was the year before my grandmother was born. Her grandparents, The Meeks, lived right down on College and Atherton at that time.

Looks like #2 and #3 are the same location. #2 is looking south while #3 is looking north.

#2 - Yes, Old Main in the left background with the roof of Schwab Auditorium visible. A bit closer is Carnegie Building which is where the Bellisario College is now located. Just behind that, the building with the peaked roof is where Willard now stands. Center background is Irvin Hall and Watts Hall. The first house to the left of Irvin Hall is still there. The second one is now where Pattee stands.

#3 - Of course what is now the biomechanics lab is still there. The Nittany Deck now covers most of what was the stadium. A lot of those College Heights houses/buildings are still there. I believe what was the elementary school just above and a bit right of the press box was purchased by the university fairly recently. Park Ave. runs directly behind the enclosed part of the stadium.

Alert…in that first picture, Big Ten refs would call illegal formation against us…. But not against OSU or Michy!

That is the Armory, where the new portion of Willard is now.

Ihlseng Cottage is next to Irvin. Originally built as faculty housing, first resident was Magnus Ihlseng, head of the School of Mines. It was turned into the first Infirmary in 1914.

The old College Heights school is now home to the Penn State Press.

If I'm not mistaken, the old football field is now where Rec Hall is.

Old beaver field was opposite of Rec hall Thye were across the street from one another Beave field was directly behind Nittany lion Inn

Old Beaver Field (first picture) was in the general vicinity of the current parking lot behind Whitmore and Bouck.

New Beaver Field (second and third pictures) was in the general vicinity of Kern and the Nittany parking deck.

My first time to Beaver Stadium in the 1970's was when the track was still part of the complex. I also remember games kicked off at 1:00 and because there was almost no televised games the flow of the game and the time it took the game to be played was much different than today. I was at the Nebraska game with the first portable lights to accommodate the late afternoon kickoff. It also took quite awhile for fans to get used to all the television timeouts.
