Good read!! We wonder why some kids have entitlement problems? We have adults paying 5$ and thinking they can say whatever they want since they paid the price of admission.

Yes its gotten terrible up here in mitchell county, it has been for 10 years. I honestly think it's the culture of WNC football that amplifies it. We have two kinds of fans up here, respectful and loud disrespectful. I remember as a player being embarrassed of having another team and fanbase come to mitchell and see how the grown adults acted like 3 year olds. The poor refs in WNC hear it more than anywhere else.

It's a sporting event not a play. Snowflakes. When a ref blows a call I see and hear the entire fan base boo in unison. Come on it's football. Suck it up buttercup it's not changing. Just the truth.

And neither is the refs call when you whine, so suck it up and shut your mouth. Let the players play, officials officiate, and fans cheer. If only fans knew half of what they think they know during a game. If you've ever had an officials perspective you'd get it.

I'm not so sure that's entirely true. Obviously, you folks up in the mountains have a ton of passion for football, but the two kinds of fans are everywhere. In my mind, referees are just a field condition. There are occasions where a receiver drops a wide open pass or a ball carrier on his way to the end zone just stumbles and falls. How you respond to that adversity is what makes you either a winner or a whiner. Getting a bad call is no different. You can either pitch a fit or you can go get after it!

What's happening to America? It's become overrun with jackwagons that feel they can do whatever they want and show their rear when something doesn't go their way. So yes say what you want at a game but don't whine when your free speech gets you tossed or banned.

Oh and when you purchase that ticket you agree to abide by whatever the ticket says and whatever code of conduct rules the school has in place. So yeah.

I really dont agree with your assessment at all. Sure there are a couple of really obnoxious fans in Mitchell's crowd, but for the most part, everyone else isnt like that. Everyone is loud in Ledger, but loud doesnt necessarily mean rude. There are alot worse fan bases in WNC, wont name names. When im in the stands, i hear alot more armchair coaches than i do armchair referees.

I used to ride along with a good friend of mine when he was an ump for American Legion Baseball. When he was calling behind the plate, he would put his gear on in the parking lot. Once, a guy walks up while he was getting ready and told him that from the first pitch to the last, he was going to be on his *** relentlessly. But after the game was over, he would go and have a beer with him, nothing personal. He just loved hollering at Umps! The people around him loved it.

If they are friends, I guess. It sets a bad example for the kids, but no one really cares about setting any kind of example anymore.

After the game, a couple of Tarboro fans came on the field after the officials. I have to remind myself that every village has an idiot, but sometimes it can be embarrassing.

I was apart of that team. It was some TERRIBLE calls that game. Refs clearly tried to rob us. Our fans did come on the field(as they do after each game) but no one tried to go after the refs. Refs usually exit the field right after the game is over & sometime have a officer to escort them.

Different take on the same event. I wasn't there so I can't defend it. I've just heard different stories. I'll take your word for it.

I don’t see anything wrong with booing bad calls, fans are going to boo, it’s part of it, it’s when it goes way past this point where the problem lies. Parents attacking refs on the field or following them out of the stadium, that is an issue.
