Kendall Rogers will forget more about college baseball than I will ever know, but can someone please explain to me what defines a pitching coach as a 'really nice get,' and, 'a good one'?

If Belanger fits that mold then why did we not see that here? If Henderson fits the mold as a 'pitching guru' then why didn't we see those results here?!

I don’t know if this is a good idea but skylar Meade who played at Louisville Ballard and has coached at Michigan State and currently at South Carolina I believe would be a good hire?

A while back I looked at coaches and assistants that had been on staff with Mingione at Miss. State. From what I found, none of them were/are pitching coaches of any sort and most didn't have pitching backgrounds. Of course, these coaches know a lot more guys that who they just coach with due to being in the profession and going to camps and all that, but it at least doesn't appear like it will be someone he coached with at Miss. State. So, I don't know how big of a pool that Mingione has to fish from.

You want to hire another Louisville alum?! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Meade looks promising. Very young guy, but he has only been at South Carolina for a year, so I doubt he jumps ship from there to come to a reeling Kentucky team. Although, Kingston's rope might be shorter than Mingione's.

For note: Meade's USC team had an ERA ranked 205th at 5.51. UK was ranked 159th at 5.10. USC seemed like a young staff, so that certainly played a factor for both teams.

The bad part about this whole situation is that people inside the coaching ranks understand this program is in bad shape and this might be a one shot deal. Anyone who is in a secure job won't come near this position.

Except for coming close to home, that is not a lateral move.

Maybe we are all a bunch of idiots about him! Totally a shocker!!

By his bio, Belanger has a glowing resume. However, every bio seems to be a glowing resume. Maybe he'll do great at FSU. If so, then it will be pretty clear that it was an issue with our HC all along.

So... something that I find a bit odd is that Tristian Pompey retweeted Derek Terry with:

"Atta boy Coach! :fire: Seminoles will treat you real good!"

This seems a bit strange. To be celebrating that your old team/school lost a coach. Maybe I am reading the tea leaves too much though.

I am thinking maybe MB should eat those last two years and not let him hire any assistants and move on now. lol

I know it isn't going to happen but something seems a little off in program.

Seems like I remember Pompey being critical of the program for something else earlier. Not letting a player go on a road trip or something. I am not a panic and fire the coach at the first sign of trouble kind of guy but I think Mingione needs to have a really good year in 2020 to renew confidence.

It has been pretty quiet on news about a new pitching coach. Haven't seen anything from D1Baseball or the other site. Also no official announcement about Coggin. I believe that players who were drafted have to decide to sign or come to college by Friday. Maybe we are waiting for that to end before we get new guys.

Pompey tweeted out that it was a slap in the face for a team captain to not even travel with the team to an away game.

With the shape the program is in right now and next season looking even more bleak, you would probably have a much easier time finding a high quality guy to take the head coaching position than finding a pitching coach.

I think legally the job has to be officially posted for a certain amount of time before hiring anyone. I think it's 1-2 weeks. Should be hearing something soon on Fanning's replacement.

Ohh yea, I always forget about this, but I think you are right. They can't officially 'hire' someone until they have it posted for a certain period. Of course, they seem to bend those rules when they can. lol

That was my line of thinking also, don't have a great feeling about coach minge. From the outside seems like a first class person. However you are going to hire a couple of assistants give them two year contracts and then probably have to make a change next year and have the buyouts on 3 coaches. Although I would bet the buyouts won't be huge.

Seems as if there is just something amiss within the program.
