Belskis Steps Down at Aurora Central Catholic

Luke Brauweiler an ACC grad and current assistant football coach has been appointed the new head varsity football coach. John Belskis stepped down after two years. Belskis' 2016 team made the playoffs. They were defeated by Chicago Philips on the second round.

I just always had the feeling that John was asked to "step in" and that it was never intended to be a longer term deal....also had a chance to coach his son so...

I'm sure he'd already retired from the public school system when he left Downers South. He was the head coach there for 24 years. I believe he was assisting Brian Casey ACC when Brian went to Montini. It was a natural fit to hire him with his son being there. His son is graduating, and he got the program going in the right direction so I'm guessing it feels it's the perfect time to ride off into the sunset.

Great coach and great guy. My cousin and a few friends played for him. Wish I could've played for him. Love the way he runs a program.
