Chandler and the KY kids are the only ones playing hard.
I love Moreno but he played as bad as anyone on the floor yesterday. So did Jasper. Looks like geography has nothing to do with how bad we stink.
What else can it be? They are a total mess and getting worse - it’s not just basketball ability. What else?
This is about where I am. I know he’s not getting fired in December and talking about it just sounds like a temper tantrum because it’s so unrealistic.
I also believe he’s back next year even if this team doesn’t win another game. However, next year is a get it right or get out year. He will never feel more pressure.
If we are back to national prominence, there will be a year 4. If year 3 is a repeat of this year or only marginally better, there won’t be a year 4. And I am fine with that as well.
I know the overly emotional knee-jerk reaction is fire the coach immediately, but it’s just not happening. I have resigned myself to this likely being a lost season but hoping some of these guys have some semblance of pride to try to get it right. Mark Pope will not be fired during this season no matter how bad it gets. Quote me on that.
The Pope from last year didn’t forget how to coach, but I do think he poorly constructed this roster and his coaching isn’t reaching the team. The rest of this season will test his mettle and mental toughness and teach him some hard lessons along the way.
Why no more Oweh? He has been one of our best players out there.
He went out of his way to bump Garrison in particular. There was a rumor that Mo D was unhappy with the way Pope was using him. I don’t know what’s true and what’s not but “if” there is one player causing chemistry problems, I think they should be sent packing
100%. Because of last year and who Mark is, he deserves one bad season. I'm not getting behind letting him go this year, its nonsense. After next year is faor if the program isnt where it should be

Maybe it happened prior to the Georgetown game given how uninspired they were compared to Purdue. I agree something has happened. Pope is doing himself no favors by trying to protect the culprits.
I’ve said this for ever. They competed against each other last season. This isn’t a light switch. Owen thinks it’s his team he doesn’t need Aberdeen. Garrison doesn’t want MO here. Probably that girlfriend issue, whatever else and whoever else doesn’t like something about the team. These guys are paid millionaires but they’re not grown. They don’t know how to separate this stuff out. Stupid to recruit so many guys that won’t like each other. Garrison shouldn’t have been brought back if you want MO. Obviously Garrison doesn’t want to share time with Mareno. What the hell how did Mark miss oh these egos so badly. Money has killed Oweh’s drive. Different players. He shouldn’t have been brought back anyway the guy can’t finish at all and never could unless he’s trying to show up Oklahoma.

This isn’t that simple. In normal circumstances I would agree. This isn’t normal. You almost cannot bring him back. Recruiting isn’t going to improve now, he’s got players from final four and championship rosters and he’s destroying them. Oats and Golden will take whoever they want from him. They’ll point and say see what happens when you play for him?
I don’t think you can bring him back given the circumstances. He won’t be able to recruit and he was already having issues there. “Normal sucking” maybe, but this is wildly beyond that. This is the worst team in UK history. And it looks to be getting worse.
This would make sense only if the NIL payment got docked too. Some are fine sitting and still getting paid. It’s why we need to increase our NIL budget so we can have a strong bench.

I love Otega’s play from last year but I was confused how all the media hyped him up to be something he is not… he is a role player and thrives in that situation, nothing more.
I also notice some recruits during interviews claiming UK gets them to the next level but Pope has never done that until last year. And those players would have been drafted at the same spot regardless if they had committed to UK or the draft that year.
I just believe that Pope won’t recover from this season, recruits won’t want to play for a guy like this and the stage was already way too big for him. Suspending or benching won’t make a difference… coaching matters.

I don't, honestly. I wasn't gonna try and report anyone. People say a lot of things on message boards, but to me, thats one step too far. Family and race have to stay out of it

Honestly I think I get the situation at hand. I have several theories. And I know one of them is the right one.
If anyone on the team is causing trouble at end of semester they should be dismissed Its a job for pay now It`s up to them to get rehired
Watching this team play is like watching someone get a 0% on a multiple choice test. Even if you're clueless and just randomly guessing, the law of averages dictates that you should still get 25% correct. Yet we're getting 0%. It's like we know what to do and we're actively and intentionally doing the opposite. That takes skill and talent lol
So which do you think is going to drive away more recruits? I'd argue that the current protecting of players and letting the train go over the cliff is worse bc Pope has signed no one lol
