It's usually the upperclassmen that tutor the freshmen....but Benny has shown Boom how to not go down as easy as he used to

I've noticed Boom keeps his legs churning after contact now and is getting way more yards after contact than he ever did.....gotta attribute it to Benny and his never give up style rubbing off

When a guy as good as Benny is gunning for your job it tends to light a fire under the buttocks too. Boom knows that if he doesn't give it all he's got then he will quickly become the backup. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone.

Bennie Snell has not "tutored" Boom. Boom was 1 of the best running backs in the SEC when Bennie was still in high school. Eddie Gran is a quality running backs coach, and Coach Gran has helped both players in terms of technique and assignment soundness. So you should give the credit to Coach Gran. However, there is no question that the emphasis on our running game, with 3 running backs pounding the running lanes, has worn down opposing defenses and helped all of our running backs play better. Snell's physical toughness and Boom's speed are taking a toll on defenses. As games wear on, both backs get better because defenses can't stay fresh.

Experience has taught Boom. Having Benny here to take some of the hits certainly hasn't hurt.

It's not just Benny.....although like others have said, if you are afraid to lose your job you will try a little harder. But it's mainly due to Boom is now becoming an upperclassmen. The last few yrs we've watched a underclass speed back try to shoulder a large portion of the load. His body and play has matured enough to gain the extra ground.

Like others have stated the competition has really helped Boom, but what has helped Boom the most is Eddie Gran. He has taught Boom how to be more patient and wait for the hole to open, then make his move and get north/south. You didn't see as many Boom cutbacks in the backfield this season that resulted in lost yards, he took the opening the line made and got positive yardage. That's a sign of great coaching and a player who is maturing and becoming a great all around back.

Bennie really complements Boom. Boom is more of a home run threat and Bennie is more of a power runner. It has really helped Boom now that he is not expected to have any 20 carry games. Boom has never been real durable and the time share has helped keep him healthy.
