You throw him in jail (or line him up against a wall) not to punish him, but to serve as a warning to others not to do the same.
Would solve the problem wouldn't it.I can see that.
What it seems like the guy is guilty of is not sedition but rather being an absolute, colossal dumbass who could not foresee obvious consequences.
Him not getting any time is ridiculous. But I don't think he should be hung or put away for a long time either.
That's just a really tough case to have to deal with for the military justice system.
There is also the issue of his own safety in a military prison. He probably would be killed.
Those injuries are more than enough to justify punishment
Wrong. 5 died searching for him.No one died searching for him
Hard for who? Hes a traitor. Traitors used to be hanged. These days apparently they are protected from prosecution.Just a really, really hard case.
Hes a traitor.
Not sure where people are getting this "no one died" stuff from, unless I have missed something.-no one died. But one lost a leg and another was paralyzed and lost his ability to speak. Matters not...he is a peice of **** and should rot in jail.
Wrong. 5 died searching for him.
Not surprised. If Killary and Obamallahakbar aren't in jail, why should Bergdahl?Disgraceful
objective reality right here folks. Not surprised. If Killary and Obamallahakbar aren't in jail, why should Bergdahl?
But if you're mad over this, blame Trump. His comments compromised the case and influenced the judge's decision.
But the guy essentially has a life sentence of shame.
Both will make bank for being traitors and deserters. This is your leftist world folks.Copout. His comments were stupid but that did not justify the decision or truly compromise the case. The comments by the judge earlier in the week showed he had a personal axe to grind with Trump.
Like Manning, he will be fully accepted/embrace in some parts of our culture and will feel no shame
But if you're mad over this, blame Trump. His comments compromised the case and influenced the judge's decision.
Trump's comments should have no bearing on this case any more than a news paper article would. That is just BS that these F'ing liberal judges use to justify not punishing a deserter. We need to get these liberal judges out and more conservative judges on the bench. Judges should apply the law......not interpret it.
False. But, the judge in this case might have been more influenced by the PC community than anything else. Believe me, Obama's 8 year reign hurt the military badly and opened the flood gates for the PC group to take hold. The military of today is no where near the the military of years past. There are no liberal judges in military courts. The judge in this case was an army colonel.
Also, Trump's tweets matter. Military officers care about things like unlawful command influence. They don't want to set precedents that could impact the military's legal system going forward.
Regardless, Bergdahl should've been sent to prison. Otherwise, we're sending a message to current and future soldiers that it's okay to do what he did, and you won't be punished for turning your back on your fellow soldiers and placing them in harm's way.

Really?? Half this country is full of snowflakes that claim its dark outside if Trump says its sunny at noon.
If anything the defense would have had a large pool of jurors to feel sorry for this traitor.
My point wasn't as clear as I intended.
The President doesn't appoint the military judges who preside over proceedings like Bergdahl's case. It's a different system than the civilian courts, and the selection process is more insulated from the everyday political squabbling that typically drives appointments. That's why the complaint about needing to get rid of all these liberal judges falls flat. Regardless of if you consider it a problem, replacing them isn't even an option.
IF you think there are no liberal officers then maybe your reasoning falls flat? I understand the military system is different.I also understand that they can't be replaced.
I think there were 90+ federal appointed judgeship openings when Trump took office. These along with the supreme court are actually the ones I was referring to.
I can see that.

Some scary nuts in this thread.
