I'm sure in the past is has been talked about, but i was just at Sterling's facility Friday night. It has to be one of the nicest stadiums to play a football game out there. Visitor side not so much but the all-around facilities were awesome. Beautiful turf field, 2 huge scoreboards in either end zone. Home stands are made of brick and concrete with locker room, restrrooms and concessions underneath. They got a pretty good pork chop sandwich but I think the best pork chop sandwich and Brats comes from Kaneland. .Local butcher, Reams, supplies the meat. A very good vibe there. All the locals show up for the game and the ones that don't come in sit in their lawn chairs outside the fence and watch the game. all of the youth football players wear their jerseys and there were a lot of them. What are some of the best all around venues out there. Stadium, concessions, and just all around vibe.

Geneseo is not a stadium but a great place. The entire town shuts down and goes to the game.

I thought on the csn chicago highlights they mentioned another place that Edgy really liked. Maybe that was Sterling??

In my opinion, I think stadiums should have separate seating for the visitors. There's too much of a chance of a controversy when you put everybody on one side... I didn't see the visiting stands at LaSalle-Peru.

Better civility in north-central IL? Last time I was at the L-P stadium, about 5 years ago, a very small number of extremely low bleacher rows existed on the visitors side.

Last I remembered there were visiting bleachers on the visitor’s side at l-p that seated a decent amount. I think after viewing quite a few games there and playing in a few it is definitely one of the cooler stadiums in the state.

But overall venue my homer bias says Sterling. The knock on Sterling I have is for the temporary bleachers on the visitor’s side. But if something permanent was put up it would block the awesome view of the school when parents are sitting in the home stands for graduation ceremony.

Between the renovated home side cement/brick stands, the beautiful track (redone this year to more of a navy to fit the school colors, much better than the lighter blue the last couple years), the new video scoreboard, the turf, and the school background, it’s a pretty neat place to be for a Friday night. Not to mention the quality of product on the field recently.

Now I won’t say it’s the best in the state since I’ve been to maybe 3% of the stadiums in the state. But for a public 5a rural school, you won’t find much better.

My guess is that out of respect for their conference mate who likely needs the revenue more, they’d not put on a competing event.

I did not think of that. Yeah that makes sense

unless maybe they bookended it and ESL is at the beginning of the season in week 2 and Eville at the end of the season in week 8 or 9 but I know many/most teams do not have non con openings past week two so that could be a limiting no go factor..

Most teams do not have the firepower or pedigree to get an invite to the ESL event, so if there was a second one that did not infringe upon ESL’s event,... more teams could be involved and they could use Eville’s awesome complex to host.

I definitely agree! Went there to watch STCE in week one. Very cool high school stadium I was impressed.

rock island hands down is the high school stadium. and yes the town shuts down cheers them on. it is a beautiful facility, locker rooms, entire the field from under the stands. could actually be a very nice college field. probably better than most.

Slightly swerving the topic - I played in some of the crappiest stadiums imaginable.

Old Township Stadium in Belleville - before the candy cane carpet after the college took it over - was hard as concrete, had nearly a four-foot crown that dropped further at the sidelines and was ringed by industrial wire MAYBE six feet from the sideline.

Running downhill really meant something back then.
