And never placed an MLB to spy on Nico. it could have been anyone..even Lavar Jr.
Maybe not spy but what would you rather have, a slow guy in the wrong position all day or a fast guy in the wrong position? When 0 become an every down player, longer runs were going to be a problem, and they were.

NNB’s PSA. Don’t ever hire anyone who ..

has ever attended, graduated from or worked for * Oklahoma State. You have to remember these people aren’t even worthy of being associated with Barry Switzer U.

Don’t be another victim like Coach Failure.

*ergo.. Yurchich, Knowles

You have to ask yourself if Franklin limits the control Bowles has. I don't ever remember Ohio State playing that soft in the secondary
We did until Day made Knowles change the defensive calls. Immediately after last year's Oregon game, Day made Knowles change the defensive game plan. I believe it was the beginning of the end for their relationship.

Some coaches, like Knowles, has a system that takes time to get fully implemented. Then you have coaches like Patricia that takes what he has and designs a defense.

If Knowles cashes his paycheck this week he should be fired. He made zero adjustments to the QB scrambles. No spy. Nothing.
A simple adjustment would have been for DDS to stop overpursuing a sack and just keep Nico in the pocket. Every big gain was a result of DDS being too far upfield and Nico going under that. LBs nowhere to be found and man coverage left the secondary without eyes on QB.

That’s what I’ve never ever understood with coaches. If a guy is too small or too slow, it doesn’t matter if he’s “in the right spot”

play the guy who may make a mistake abut can also make big plays. Let him learn.

I hated this 4-2 when we got into the season. This ain’t the NFL where your 150 million Qb sits in the pocket, never runs, and the running game is used to setup the pass. These college QBs run and most teams run the ball over and over because they don’t have a chase or Jefferson at WR. 2 LBs who aren’t the second coming of Ray Lewis and Dick Butkus, without multiple 5 stars along the D line, and without an NFL secondary behind them are going to struggle big time. That scheme was never going to work here; we don’t have the offense that can back it up or the years of recruiting elite talent to shoehorn it in.

Does anyone know what defines holding in college football now? Between last week and today, Oregon and UCLA's OL blocking strategy was to get your hands outside of the shoulder pads and hold on. I know we hold but it was egregious what is being allowed in the B10 against PSU's DE, DL, and LBs so far.
LOL it’s always the officials

It's a valid question. Both times, if the hold was called, it negates a big play by the opponent and puts them behind the sticks and who knows what happens next. They rightfully got the WR hold on Allar's long run in the 3rd qtr. But if I can see it from 90 yards away in my seat, certainly the 'C' can see it right in front of her face.

Maybe it was Jimmies and Joes; not X’s and O’s.
Maybe the loss of Tony Rojas could not be compensated for.
One guy - who has had a lot of hype - but has a career of bad angles and tackling problems causes the collapse of an entire program? Preposterous.

Even with all the other nonsense happening in that game, that one very simple adjustment wins the game easily. I would have put Lavar Jr in there as a spy but any lb or safety would work in that role. You have to wonder what broken logic, other than ego, led to the decision to keep doing the same thong over and over again. Even the announcer said it a few times that it’s time to put a spy on Nico. Both announcers, as annoying as they were, were smarter than our coaching staff.

The hold on us occurred in space--the Big Ten calls those. They've established that unless you tackle someone rushing the passer it's not going to be called. I understand the frustration but they're consistent. Those holds wouldn't be relevant if we spied him or could tackle in space.

It's not always the officials, but 44 got held on 3 and 15 should have been 3 and 25 instead it was first and goal at the 6 that makes a big difference in a game.
I totally agree, but what how did our coach do to respond to it? Oh, thats right, arms folded looking longingly into the distance. He should have been up the refs ***, get a flag like coaches do in basketball, get your team to see your energy. Franklin was lamenting the lack of energy to start the game, but he shows none.....ever.

That’s such a ******** explanation and copout. A hold is a hold no matter where it occurs and it sure as hell have been relevant both times because the players who were held would have had an excellent opportunity to make a tackle.

But it's true. I'm not saying I agree with how they call the game--it's just how it's been for a decade--probably 2
Here's the thing--understanding how refs are doing these doesn't mean I agree--I'm simply stating they're consistent. We can say consistently bad but consistent.
I never said they weren't holds--they were--I wish they'd consistently call them. They just consistently don't.
