I would be embarrassed to know how much money I've spent at Pal's over the years.

JD, have you had their chili dogs? They are great as well.

Of these three:
1. Freddy’s
2. Culvers
3. Steak and Shake

Real fast food:
1. McDonalds
2. Wendys
Pass on the rest. Never been to a Whataburger or In-N-Out

Others:
1. Burger-Fi
2. Backyard Burger (they might be gone now)
3. Five guys.

Overall, I’d take Freddy’s because their fries are the best too.
What?

If we are using the broad definition of 5 guys (no drive through required) the easy answer is shake shak. No debate.

If we are using a drive through test I’d say Culver’s or Freddie’s in this region. Out west, what a burger

DQ Flamethrower

Interesting. DQ can be sort of hit and miss in quality based on the location in my experience. When it's good, there is an argument that it is highly underrated and sneakily one of the best fast food joints there is. When it is bad...

On the Whopper -- Burger King has a similar issue. A Whopper is a damned good fast food burger when made well. Same thing with their breakfast -- it is awesome when done well (for a fast food place). But it is basically the opposite of Chik-fila when it comes to a quality control and management.

Agree on the Whopper. When right it's really good.

I probably have 1 flamethrower per year, otherwise I would go with The Whopper as the best burger.

Love that place. Wish they had some in my neck of the woods.

We miss having one down here too. Their "Sudden Service" motto is real too. No matter how long the line is, they keep it moving. Once a month, I'd stop and get 24 biscuits for the people in the warehouse as a token of appreciation for their help. Usually within a minute of getting to the pickup window, they'd be ready. Pal's are clean too. Have a friend who is a UPS driver and he told me it was the cleanest restaurant in Kingsport, fast food OR sit down. Clean cut and friendly employees too.

I was trolling with my OP. My actual favorite is a garlic burger from steak ‘n shake.

Steak n Shake was my favorite place back in the day. Has really gone down hill since the activist investor guy took over.

Freddy's is very close to what Steak N Shake used to be.

Also, Shake Shack is the best fast food burger out there. It doesn't have a drive through but has quicker service than steak n shake.

We did I&O last year in Dallas, wasn't overly impressed. I'll take WB over any day, had a Big Mac for lunch on Sunday and it's still good, imo. Austin has a small family chain of Dan's/Fran's that our fantastic, do a great job with breakfast also. Wendy's is probably my favorite and BK is growing on me, the Whopper is a solid burger.

The whopper holds up pretty well but the meat can be a little dry to me at times.

Flame broiling does that but they are real good if you get them hot off the grill versus sitting in their compartment until used.

Hard to beat using the Burger King app and getting two whopper meals for $8.99 (That is what they are here.)
