Tru is right on the Druther's fish sandwich....seems they put it on rye with tartar sauce and cheese.....Delicious!

I believe the sandwich you get at Charlie's Seafood on Winchester Rd in Lexington is among, if not the best.

Fast food - Moby Dick

If I really want to sit down and enjoy a nice fish sandwich, I'm going to Checks Cafe in Louisville. Great fish.

The only fish sandwich I have had in the last 10 years from fast food is the late night drunken White Castle stop. I will not eat the sliders, so it is chicken rings or the fish and cheese. Something about the honey mustard they have makes all the shittyness go away when applied to the chicken rings or fish. Oh, and another secret, White Castle fries do actually come in more than one size. Beastie Boys are liars.

Not fast food but Mike Linnig's in Louisville is really good. Like someone said earlier, Checks Cafe in Louisville is really good too.

Mike linnigs has sucked for at least the last 5 years. Forced to eat there once a year and can't stand it. Obryans has the best fish sandwich in louisville hands down. Most people won't go there cause it's a shoddy looking cash bar/restaurant off Dixie but do yourself a favor and grab one to go if you must. Btw one sandwich is enough for two easily!

Has anybody tried the Coastal Cod Sandwich at Long Johns? Have heard mixed reviews, it does look good.

O'Bryan's is great.

Had Linnig's last week -- it doesn't suck, it tastes the same as it always has. It's a good fish sandwich -- not the best in town or close, but good. Eat there once or twice per year b/c it's near my work, and it's hot/fresh/crispy every time.

I'll say one thing, it's amazing how much fish they pump out. That's a well-oiled machine out there.

Give me Hill St. Fish Fry.

Charlie's is the only place in Lex that is remotely edible. Would be afraid to eat what others are calling "fish". Places like Captain D's and LJS would make a homeless person go hungry.

Haven't had the Arby's fish sandwich yet this year, but if it's anything like years past it's pretty good. I am not sure there is any fast food worth a crap these days though, so it's all relative.

I'm not sure they had it this year either, but they used to have a cod fish sammy during lent that was pretty darn good.

Druthers had the best one ever. Big hunk of fried cod on rye with tartar sauce. Too bad Druther's went under, for the most part.
Agree. I was telling my son about it this past week. King Fish is very good. I really like Frisch's fish sandwich. In lexington, Charlie's is the best I've had.

King Fish is straight ***.

Also, the one on Blankenbaker is now an El Nopal.

If you want chain, then Moby Dick is the pick. If you aren't going chain then you are better off just picking a local fried fish place.

In high school on fish sandwich day they would put out a big tub of tartar sauce in ice with a ladle in it. I would put a full scoop on my fish sandwich then put my potato chips on top of the tarter sauce then put the top bun on it.

I am sure it was awful but in my memory I cannot recall a better fish sandwich than those were.

I would like to sincerely tell everyone who posted in this thread to take a flying leap. It inspired a craving for a fried fish sandwich and I tried the cod at Hardee's.

I hate all of you.
