It’s been a while since I’ve tried to link anything on here, but give this a listen. SRV and Jeff Beck covering an Albert King song. It’s just audio, but you can tell when SRV comes in during this dual solo. He blows Beck away. (Around the 3:05 mark) It’s moving. It’s like proof that there is a God and he does bless people with gifts.

Oh, and by the way, this post is dedicated to BKH, who would have already posted this song correctly if he hadn’t gone into hiding. *Chef’s kiss* wherever you are, brother.

I saw Pink Floyd at Vanderbilt Stadium back in the late 90's.....early 00's. It was a good concert. It would've been a great concert if it wasn't for a drunk guy that say next to us.......he was LIVID that they never played Free Bird.......and let everyone know throughout the set.

For me, out of all the hundreds of concerts I've been a part of or seen, Eddie Van Halen had the best guitar solos. I have seen them 3 times and he has my top 3 solos easily.

Moreover, the band with the best collective solos that I've seen was Dave Mathews. Their concerts end up being looooong jam sessions where each member gets to showcase to a large extent.
That was 94. Happens when we get old.

I saw Pink Floyd in '88 in Denver's old Mile High Arena. Gilmore is just ridiculously good, one of, if not the best I've ever seen live. Saw SRV about 3 months before he died at the show he did in Louisville. So good and gone waaayyy to early.

For solos, you can't beat Duane Allman, he was a guitar prodigy and he lived with one in his hands all the time. I like this video because not only do you hear it, they show you the notes he's playing.

Ana Vidovic plays Barrios' La Catedral.
Stick around at least to 4.30 mark. From there you'll stick around to the end...unless you have no soul.

I'd put these guys up against anybody.
Julian Bream died recently but he could outplay most even in that state. RIP.

If you’re in Lexington and get a chance to check out Ben Lacy do yourself a favor. He’s a bad man. Here’s him soloing some Floyd to tie it all together.

Excluding blues...

David Gilmour - "Comfortably Numb" from "Is There Anybody Out There?" (this is the correct answer for #1; I reject any contrary suggestions)
Mark Knopfler - "Telegraph Road" from "Alchemy"
Jimmy Page - "Dazed and Confused" from 9/29/71 Osaka concert
Larry Carlton - "Kid Charlemagne"
Terry Kath - "25 or 6 to 4"

+1 on Prince.

Saw him at The Palace a few months before he died. It was a guitar centric show. His band consisted of 3rd Eye Girl playing drums, bass, rythem/lead guitar and a keyboard player. I would have welcomed seeing him in many of his guises, but a guitar centric night was beyond excellent.

Of course Prince blistered on the strings all night long.

I have been blessed to see countless shows and most of my heroes, but I have not seen a better show, some equally good. But none better.

In no particular order:
-Slash - Sweet Child O' Mine
-Mark Knopfler - Sultans of Swing
-Mick Taylor - Sway, live bootleg Gimme Shelter (think it was '73 European tour bootleg)
-Jimmy Page - Good Times, Bad Times (2nd solo especially)
-Carlos Santana - Open Invitation
Good list.

I second this one! Jaw dropping!

I’ll add...

Joe Bonamassa - “Woke up Dreaming”
Derek Trucks - “Desdemona”
Ronnie Earl - “AKOS”
Stevie Ray Vaughan - “Tin Pan Alley”
Buddy Guy - “Cities Need Help”

Gary Clark Jr is definitely my favorite current guitarist. I've seen him live a couple times and he's always great.

In terms of how much I enjoy them, not simply "the best."

Alive, Mike McCready
Sweet Child O Mine, Slash
Stranglehold, Ted Nugent
Hotel California, Don Felder and Joe Walsh

Jake E Lee is one of the most underrated guitarist to ever strike a cord. I mean replacing Randy Rhoads was some huge shoes to fill. MY opinion and many will disagree and I get it, but Jake was a better OVERALL guitarist / musician than Rhoads. Ozzy (and crazy *** Sharon) never really gave him his due or a chance to replace him. He wrote a ton of Ozzy's music and never got credit for it, which is what started the down fall between Ozzy / Sharon and Jake E Lee. dude is truly amazing to watch live, he has the total package and uses every chord there is.

I might not go as far as saying Jake was better but they are absolutely on a level playing field.

Jake E. Lee is soooooo underrated.

Ultimate Sin is my favorite Ozzy album of all-time because of Lee.

Bark at the Moon is one of the coolest riffs ever.

Remember his band Badlands with Ray Gillen(RIP)?

That was a heck of a combo. Too bad Ray died young.

Would have loved to have been at this show. What an experience it must have been to experience this live. David Gilmour is so talented

Hey OP, try this one on for size. A unique guitar rift that actually sings the lyrics to the song after they are sung. Very few do it like this band.
