All names mentioned above

Josh Ladowski from Lake Norman and what he did rushing and passing

Toney Baker Ragsdale

Elijah Hood- Catholic

Sam Howell- Sun Valley

Ernest Tinnen & and Drew Williamson - Cummings

Selfish here: Dax Hollifield- Shelby I think he still may have most games played record in career (I think 63) and his tackles etc for career off the charts.. What a talented high school linebacker

I’m sure this is a homer pick but Todd Gurley is still the best high school football player I’ve watched. Just as good on defense as he was on offense. He had opposing players coming up asking for autographs and pictures after games. Led Tarboro to a 2A championship in 2011 on two high ankle sprains.

Keep in mind this is strictly football

Chris Leak, Todd Gurley, and TJ Logan come to mind immediately: Stats, Multiple titles, big time recruits.

My bad definitely didn’t read the whole title. If overall athlete I’d include Neal.
Doesn’t matter though I included a bunch of others

Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech started out as a QB in college and is now a LB. When I saw that story it reminded me of Surratt.

Neal definitely in overall category, with his accomplishments and playing in 5 of 6 possible title games between football and basketball... So far.

Football wise from The Ville, there are a few that could be argued ahead of Neal at this moment:

Kyle Pinnix- 41-1, 3 titles and probably every passing record at RHS if not for covid.
Breon Pass- 3 titles, two way stud that should have played college football (yeah I said it LOL)
Jerome Simpson- 2 titles and lots of catches and TDs
Kenzel Doe - never lost a game as a Raider or Ram

It is a homer pick but at the same time if alot of people from outside the fan club say it, then it's more than likely legit. So yes and no at the same time.

Someone to consider is Thomasville’s EJ Abrams-Ward. Played on three state championship football teams and, in four years, played fullback, wide receiver, linebacker and quarterback at different times. In his four years, the Bulldogs were 56-4, with two 16-0 seasons.
EJ also starred on two state basketball championship teams. Ironically, his best sport was probably baseball. He was the AP Male Athlete of the Year for North Carolina in 2007-2008 and was the number one football recruit in the state. Made a huge mistake in signing with Tennessee over State, UNC, Clemson and South Carolina. Got caught up in the coaching change there and was dismissed from the team.
That began a downward spiral that resulted in failed attempts at comebacks and legal trouble. He was undoubtedly the best overall high school athlete that I personally saw play.
