I'm very interested in the fortunes of Evergreen Park. I'm a former substitute teacher there ... I'd get called at least every Monday, thanks to hung-over teachers calling-in sick. Great way to supplement my income while on military leave.

Normal Community. Largest school in conference with solid athletic tradition. Actually, all three Bloomington-Normal openings are attractive. I would rank them:
1. Normal Community
2. Normal West
3. Bloomington

I understand State Farm is leaving the area at a fast rate. One must wonder what effect that will have on these three schools.

The Multi-Billion dollar facility they just wrapped up in Tempe is Beautiful, just saw it last week! Understand there are a few more centers completed and being worked on with one in Dallas, and another in Atlanta. Each facility is in excess of 2-million square feet and employees 8000+. Everyone recognizes cost structure in Illinois is too high, even the insurance industry!

State Farm's issues go far beyond Illinois though. They are also shedding workers and policy holders.

There is a difference between walking away from markets that are killing your business, and walking away from your historic base of operation. The slow exodus from Bloomington Normal is underway and will eliminate about 35%(15,000 of 41,000 jobs) of the total employment if they shutter the facility. That would devistate the local economy in a town already hovering around 7.5% unemployment.

Illinois is in deep and desperately needs to realize they can't continue down the current path. The state is living on bridge loans and credit cards like an addict in the Casino, saying "just one more run and everything will be great!" Time to dial 1-800-BETSOFF.

Of course theres a difference, but clearly as your post indicates their problems are more than Illinois. They are shedding workers, not just in Illinois, and policy holders, not just in Illinois. And I guarantee their massive welfare handout that just passed will not bring those jobs back.

Curie is not that great of a job IMO. That's why mcdonaugh is leaving. The support is not there and basketball is taking over.

Which part? Every year he tells people he thinks it’s his last only to come back but I think a few things have changed that I can’t see him staying much longer.

As for the talent at the school it has been down for the last few years but the younger classes are much deeper and talented then what they have had for the last 3-4 years.

"the younger classes are much deeper" Deeper? There's talent but depth?? Not at any level like most schools today...

Bloomington Normal unemployment is 3.7%, one of the lower in the midwest...

Shutter the facility? LOL...They just ADDED workers, if you think State Farm is leaving B-N you are completely wrong. When they opened facilities in Tempe and Richardson they were very clear that was being done because a metro area of less than 200K people can not meet their employment needs.

Seriously??? Everyone knows that Bloomington-Normal has the lowest unemployment is the state, between State Farm, Country, two universities in an area that size its awesome, and thats even with the Mitsubishi plant closing.. Why anyone would think the unemployment rate there is high is beyond me..

And I know a few people that work at State Farm corporate, they say their jobs have remained around 15000 for the last 10 years, again no idea why you think there is a state farm exodus from B-N..

Is York still open? If so, it is the best one out there. Very talented freshman class and potential strong community for football. Need a head coach who can eliminate the dysfunction that exists between the different levels and keep things consistent.

They have had some really good teams in the past and were decent but have fallen in hard times. The right hire if give time good build a really solid program
