Best NU mid-range shooters

Since the NCAA added the three-pointer in 1986, shots that are inside the arc but not at the rim are called "mid-range" shots. According to Bart Torvik, Langborg was 8-for-9 on mid-range shots (3-10 on all other shots) today. Who would you say is the best mid-range shooter for NU in the three-point era?

Cedric Neloms was pretty good.

Pat Baldwin is one of the only guards on the all time NU FG% list and shot over 50% from 2. Probably wasn’t really a guy doing that in the Carmody era that tried to eliminate all mid range shots. Coble is on the FG list but he’s a perfect example, all threes and layups.

The midrange game is incredibly inefficient unless you’re *great* at it, and the PO was ahead of its time in emphasizing threes and dunks (layups).

It’s only a good shot if you’re realllllly good at it, which is why guys like DeRozan and Durant are the only players who take a bunch of them in the NBA. This is also why Langborg makes it an efficient shot — lots of fist pumps and smiles moments after he slings it.

In addition to Coble, Vedran was a truly, truly excellent midrange shooter. He was at his most dangerous when he played the ‘5’ in the offense and got the ball at the elbow.

The best midrange player I ever saw at NU, though it was only for one season, was Rex Walters

One of the obvious reasons it can work is that the defense is just not ready for a guy to take a step or two past the three line and then shoot, so it's usually uncontested. Like, why would you take that shot? (because it's open)
