All these teams are currently winless, but look deeper into who they've played.

Who has the best chance out of these teams to turn their season around?

Fremd 0-3
Simeon 0-3
Edwardsville 0-3
Carmel 0-3
Wheaton-Warrenville South 0-3

Using 5 wins as the barometer to turn season around...

Fremd - Barrington & Palatine await.

Simeon will win 4 straight - then Curie and 1st Rd CPS playoff. 6 wins probable.

Carmel Catholic - Naz & ND await.

WWS - NC, NV, WV and NN await. Ouch.

Edwardsville - assuming they win out?

Fremd has Barrington, Palatine and Hoffman Estates yet, plus down to sophomore QB. 3-6 or 2-7 would be a likely finish.

Guerin, this is a great idea. I think you should do this every week as teams progress or regress. I gotta believe that Chicago Simeon will make the playoffs. As for Eddie, this will be a tough one with BW on the way.

Simeon is guaranteed to get to 4-3. The Curie game week 8 is huge, especially if the weather is bad. Simeon is a pass heavy team and Curie loves to pound the rock. It should be an interesting week 8 match up.

West is in a good trajectory. EVILLE lost a lot this year too - and continues to lose athletes.

But that's why they play the game!

Simeon could easily be 3-0.Argo may not win a game but I really must give them a shout out to a great comeback that just fell short vs Reavis.

I see E'ville getting better by the time they play B. West. It should be a good game outcome can go either way. none the less they should make playoffs.
So if they go 5-4, they will get good playoff points from the Flyers, West and a few more from the rest of the conference. Are out of state opponents wins counted for playoff points?

Yes. Last year they manually entered the wins from Hamilton SE (Indiana) for Waubonsie that played them in week 7last year. If they did it for WV - that means they do it for all teams (unless they changed the rules from last year to this year)

Belleville West should beat EVILLE.

Where is the BW hype coming from? Seems like they were given too much credit for losing 35-21 to the NJ school. Quincy is god awful and had key injuries. O'Fallon is one of the worst teams in the SWC. What am I missing?

Belief in Coach Pettus is my gauge - and I think they are doing things there to be more competitive.

Believe me, West was our biggest rival. They did not score on us while I was in high school. Shutting them out was a stated goal like beating MICHIGAN/OHIO ST. So, it's not just a homer thing.

Interesting. BW always seems to have the talent but can't get over the hump under Pettus.

Don't look for Carmel to turn anything around. Starting two freshman and three sophmores, and losing their two starting running backs, maybe next year...

That New jersey team was pretty good... I saw the game live. I see West as a 6-3 type and maybe a round or two at best..OFallon has been devastated by transfers...SWestern is down this fall no question that's also the consensus from several coaches I talk to in the area

Correct and I agree. I was adding that it was much closer than the final score.
Probably not going to see a DL like that in IL (Marist being closest) but will likely see better offenses. I mean PC was able to score some points. I like you don't subscribe to the "out of state" means "better" notion. I want to see some of these Indiana powerhouses come over... Carmel, Warren Central, Cathedral and them

Edwardsville should be ranked #1 in the state among winless teams. ;)

With NN continuing to impress, this looks to be more and more of a true statement. Obviously they need to put a whole game together, but how many teams in the state could have jumped out 42-0 on NN, then 16-14 at half against powerhouse CBC in back to back weeks to start the season? Look out if they can get it together.

To be honest, EC offense was a step or so better than PC however ESL played a much better game. That night, they took on the challenge plus some guys played both ways up front that didn't happen until PC's last two drives week one. This is by no means any disrespect to PC as I was shocked they loss to Vianney and I feel they have a pretty good team. I am just pointing out baby "LSU" was really good and ESL played one of the better games I have seen in a while. ESL had three or four opportunities to win 20-7. Instead mistakes and turnovers led to a 14-6 loss.

How many teams in the state could have blown a 42 point lead? Even losing your QB and RB this is still mind blowing to me.

Very true. I can't figure them out. But from what I heard, it was much more than the QB and RB going down due to cramps. Defense was greatly affected.

I didn't realize that NN was missing their stud linebacker for the first two games but now that makes a lot of sense. LOL I was more worried about watching their offense. With the kid back watch out. He flies all over the field and jacks up the rest of the defense. To me this the game changer for NN and should put them just shy of the top ten rankings. NC vs NC is going to be a REALLY fun game to watch.

Edwardsville's running back Dionte Rodgers is out for the season. He and the QB are the best players on the team by far. With Rodgers, E-Ville is a dangerous 0-3 team. Without....not so much.
