Well slow night with the rain so I thought I would start something to get the conversations going. We all know or have heard of the stud player on a lot of these teams, but who on your team is killing it so far and we may not have heard of him because he may be a couple inches too small, or a few pounds light, or doesn't spend all of his time promoting himself on social media. Here are a few seniors from Mount Carmel that I think are doing great at the half way point.
Marty O'Brien- Cornerback- Saw some time at safety as a junior, made the switch to corner this year and has been outstanding. Huge hit on the goal line against Loyola to cause a fumble that probably saved the game for MC. Probably the fastest player on the team. Plays with high energy, fly's to the ball.
Tony Livermore- WR- Was the teams leading receiver last season. Excellent Kick Returner. Seems to be open on every play, very shifty runner. Only 5'7 so he wont be on any Players to Watch lists but he is already committed to play baseball at Northwestern so he'll be more then OK. Should be MC's all time leader in receiving yards after this season assuming he stays healthy.
Lance Swain- MLB- Leading tackler from last years team. If he was 2 inches taller and a half second faster you all probably would have heard of him because he would be on a lot of D1 radars. Seems to be in or around on most tackles. Vocal leader of the team, hopefully some good school gives him a shot, they won't be disappointed.
I think all three above are Captains too so their teammates hold them in high regard as well.
