Another Quad 1A game added to our resume. 18 games against Quad 1 opponents. That’s tied with Auburn for the most in the country.
This game did not hurt us at all. Actually it helped us just playing it.
Auburn is the best team in the country. By a lot. Going to take a monumental effort from anyone to beat them.

Another thing, I expected to be S16 or better a few weeks back.

I didnt get to watch our game at all. But based on the box score and the comments here, it seems that one good takeaway is that this is a wakeup call for Pope's defensive woes. I know we're injured, but to lose by nearly 20 with Broome only getting like 9, says our guard, wing and general defense is not good.
That’s a perfect example of numbers lie.
To go out and embarrass yourself on your home court is not a help in any form or fashion.
Defensive woes have been the one of the problems all year.
And that's why I'm glad that it reared it's ugly head again. Pope is going to have to either 1. Fix this part of his game or 2. Get a more defensive minded assistant.
Granted it's still year 1 and I bet our defense is better next year.. but still.. a lot of the loss today was defense. If we had a top40 defense we might have been able to pull the upset over the best team in the nation.

Auburn has embarrassed a lot of teams this year.

Well, Kansas lost at home to TTech, so there’s that.
Nothing is waking up Pope and his staff at this point in the season. We knew going into the season that his teams historically didn't play much defense.
I want Duke to get the overall #1. It'll be even better when they get knocked out early.

Turnovers were the biggest factor. We turned it over 18 times, and a lot of those were live ball TOs that resulted in easy Auburn baskets.
Does Arkansas get in? They are 17-12 with 2 games left. At Vandy and Home against Ms. State.

They probably need to win both and then get a couple of SEC Tournament wins. Or get a lot of SEC Tourney wins.

I don’t know what people expected today. Auburn is by far the best team in college. They have run over the best SEC ever. We don’t have the athletes we need and health has crushed our team honesty. We could still make an E8 with the right matchups or if we shoot well enough. I’d like to see Pope try a zone or something else though. We need to mix up whatever we can to give us a chance.
Pope alluded to the game pressure from Auburn playing into that and I somewhat agree. Our guys got visibly shook. I hope Auburn wins the title because I don’t think we can anymore. It would be much better than Duke, UConn, Kansas, UCLA etc getting one. War eagle the rest of the year other than when they play us as far as I can see it. That or Houston would be fine with me
