I liked the Lousy TV Show thread. So here is my go at the "Best"

TO Star Trek - How was this so good on a budget so small?

The Wild Wild West - Fun from beginning to end. I remember it was on at the same time as TV Quarterbacks, so seeing the reruns was a treat. Michael Dunn was probably the greatest bad guy ever.

TV Quarterbacks - Yes, imagine a time that the greatest coach of all time would spend an hour with fans every Thursday nite in the Fall.

The Prisoner - This show was a summer filler, yet it was so special it demanded more time.

Band of Brothers - We had a huge projection television and I watched this series with my son and 6 of his friends. No noise, just eyes fixed on the screen.

The World at War - No documentary has been better than this. I would not change a thing.

The Twilight Zone (original) - From beginning to end it never disappointed. Even the bad episodes were good.

Sherlock - Perfect casting and great writing. Andrew Scott was so wonderful and evil as Moriarty

Twin Peaks - The first season makes up for the rest.

Trailer Park Boys - How did this not become another Monty Python?

Monty Python - I remember seeing this at 11:00 PM on a Saturday nite on the PBS station in 1971. I could not believe that TV could be this good.

Derry Girls - Yes, I enjoyed a show about teenage girls growing up in 1990s Ireland.

The Queen's Gambit - Good from beginning to end. This surprised me to no end.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Maybe the most acquired taste program on this list.

Star Trek is horrible.
Band of Brothers was amazing. Derry Girls was great as well. Monty Python amazing as well.
My list starts with two, then anything else that follows is well behind.
1. Seinfeld
2. Odd Couple (the original)

I have Seinfeld categorized w/ the Office (though it was funnier) in that they were both water cooler discussion necessities at their times.

Looking back, other than Jim and Pam (and maybe Kramer) there are no likable characters in either show. I haven't watched a re-run of either in years.

The best season of these shows was Justified Season 2. (Mags Bennett.)

The best line? In The Wire when Stringer goes off on the guy for taking notes on a criminal ******* conspiracy.

A lot of great characters are not likeable. That’s what makes them characters.

A show that I wouldn’t say was one of the best ever but that I truly enjoyed until Phil Hartman’s wife ruined it was News Radio. Always funny and never tried to get serious.

Rules of Engagement was a funny show. The time they're in the diner and the wife w/ the great rack orders the egg white omelette then the husband asks the waitress to put her egg yolks in his omelette....funny stuff.

Death Valley Days. Hosted by “The Old Ranger” the series ran 12-13 seasons if I recall, one of which - Season 8 - was hosted by Ronald Reagan. What made DVD special was the fact that episodes were based on real-life people and historical incidents.

“Wife with the great rack,” what an understatement. Megan Price. Yes, it’s a flag.
